.ghost extension

Post » Tue Mar 08, 2011 2:14 am

I have noticed recently that a lot of my esp files have been appended to xxxx.esp.ghost. Not sure were the ghost extension has come from, what it means or what it does to my files. Some help please. TL

I don't even use Wrye Bash, but I could imagine it's a feature that hides unused esp files in the data directory to prevent the ~400 esp/esm/bsa bug from happening. I think I read something like that somewhere.

That's Wrye Bash's Ghosting feature, stops oblivion.exe detecting non-loaded esps or something to that effect.

edit. *sigh* I'm the world's slowest typer

Yeah, that's part of Wrye Bash. Oblivion loads all ESP's in the Data directory, even if they are not selected. By appending .ghost at the end, it prevents Oblivoon from loading those ESP's that are not selected.
