In Skyrim, there′s a ghost in Old Hroldan who seems to believe that the Dragonborn is Hjalti Early-Beard. The way I see it, he′s confusing your "Lorkhan essence" for the one which Hjalti also possessed. Any disagreements? These might not be the best words to describe it, but it seems to me like another solid proof that the Last Dragonborn is Shezarrine.


Something else just jumped at me though, which I didn′t remember. He also mentions how the Blade Masters of Alcaire taught them how to fight. Doesn′t that kind of turn "Tiber Septim is a Breton" into "canon" instead of "heresy"? At least Breton-raised, even if Nord/Atmoran of blood (given his name).

I agree with you, the ghost thought you were Hjalti because you too are Dragonborn.

It may be that Tiber Septim is an amalgam of many people, one of whom was Hjalti Early-Beard. He became a god so it's impossible to tell now. He could have easily altered the past.

Strictly speaking, the Arcturian Heresy never says that Tiber Septim is a Breton. He is a "warrior youth from High Rock". Just to have it mentioned.

In Online, in the http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Cave_of_Broken_Sails in Grathwood, you meet a necromancer who has been bound there as a spirit for a few hundred years. He will mention that he sees you as the ghostly one, so the Ghost of Old Hroldan very likely sees you the same way. So your identity as Dragonborn probably makes your soul stand out in some way for other ghosts.

My first impression was, that just sleeping in a bed that was used before by Hjalti was enough for the ghost.

It is possible that all humans where seeing themselves as one race at the time, and the distinction between Breton and Nord did come up later.

The other theory is, that he was indeed a Breton, but in history, every group did give him a name that declared Hjalti as one of them.

Perhaps he was really the first Imperial. Big for a Breton, but not for a Nord. That would explain the description in the books of Barenziah.

Personally, I choose the race of my character for the looks. Then I make up a back-story. If the back-story requires that Talos/Hjalti is an ancestor of the char, that makes up the race of Talos for this one char...

Hjalti is only from the last era. It's relatively recent. If we were talking Mythic Era, then yeah.. the humans apparently associated themselves with Atmora and Tamriel in general was ruled by Elves. Then it was eons until humans branched out into various races (like the Imperials in the South, while Nords were North). By the time Bretons came along, the world is like we see it now. And Bretons weren't even fully human. They're half-elves.

Speaking of which, not only is Hjalti being from High Rock a good argument that he was Breton... but the goddess Kyne called Tiber Septim a "Man-Mer". I think she of all people knows the difference between Nords and Bretons.

I also think it's fitting for him, because he bridged a lot of gaps for various peoples, and created a unified Empire. And he pissed off Wulfharth because he didn't attack elves outright. Real Nords like Wulf don't give a crap about unifying everyone. They're just as pigheaded as the Dominion. It's war -- the literal "Season Unending"... playing out the conflict between Lorkhan and Auriel forever. But Talos somehow rose above that.

TLDR - Ahem...In any case, I agree that the Dragonborn soul might have something to do with the ghost's confusion.
