Ghostgate Fences and Pillars

Post » Mon Nov 05, 2012 11:22 pm

I started this question in the MRM thread, but I figured I should start a new thread since it's moving away from the MRM topic to just the ghostgate. I wanted the gate to become taller since the mountain is now taller as well. So I needed to make the ghostgate entrance to be as tall as the rest of the new fence pieces so I asked how to do so. The solution was to use Nifskope to tweak the fence and Blender to fix the Fence rim piece.

Next, I need to raise the rest of the pieces to align with the taller entrance. In doing so, the pillars rise further out of the ground, looking unsightly. So I went into blender and tried two different tweaks. Does anyone have an opinion on which you would prefer, or suggestions to make them better? https://www.dropbox.com/s/zuar15jnkv817rt/Ghostgate%20Pilllars.png

It's really hard for me to say. They're both getting to the point where they look awkwardly tall. I think I like the bottom option better simply because it has more to look at. I wonder if you could mess around with adding some buttresses to the bottom of the pylons - to give them something of a foundation.

So giving the lower parts a larger footprint would work better? I'll try out the buttress idea. Might take a while to get something nice looking though. :)

Yeah velothi can be tricky to make play nice with stuff like that (I've got one ridiculously tall building in my mod right now, so I know...). But I'd mess around with the _lp pieces and maybe even copies of the pylons themselves. But a large base/foundation would improve the look, I think ;)
