Ghoul Animals

Are there Ghoul Animals? There are Ghoul People.

In Fallout 3.

There is Ruzka The Wonder Bear, a Yau Gaui in Point Lookout.

Either Ruzka is over 200 years old or it is her descendant.

Is she ghoulified in some way?

Or just made immortal by radiation.

I would have thought there would be some ghoul animals.

I was wondering about Yau Gaui.

They have white eyes. And diferent marks on each one.

Are they ghoulified in some way?

You can eat them so I would say they are alive.

Not ghouls.

But there is something ghoulish about them.

Animals seem to mutate instead of ghoulify.

Not that we've seen, but I see no reason why it couldnt be introduced without a canon war.

Humans arn't that likey to survive ghoulification. Only those strong enough will become a ghoul and I would figure during their ghoulification they received some level of medical attention.

Aminals mostly died off and those that did make it mutated in some way. It would be odd to see animals as ghouls. I am not a veterinarian but I noticed when animals are sick they tend to stop eating. Ghoulification takes along time so any animal that was exposed to alot of radiation and did not die out right from it, would die from starvation/dehydration.

Moira Brown does not realize she is a ghoul till you tell her when you blow up Megaton.

I don't think she needs any medication.

Maybe it is gradual like with Carol or instant like with Moira.

Carol says it started by dry skin falling off and it took a year and they were all ghouls.

Maybe the ghoul animals would not notice so much and keep going.

If Moira does'nt even notice till you tell her, I dought a animal would change anything unless they were really ill, so they would'nt stop drinking or eating.

Moira Brown is the exception not the rule. She breaks canon and even Bethesda's own canon. Personally I think she is a joke. From my understanding Bethesda likes to put at least one "Annoying Person" in their games. Well you can't get anymore annoying then her. I say its a joke because you blow up Magaton and she still lives! :ahhh:

She also doesn't seem to mind the fact that a nuclear weapon just detonated in her vicinity, so I'd say she's not the one to turn to in terms of perception of whats going on.

She is annoying, lol. But I don't like to be mean to her, she is so enthusiastic and happy.

I think she cannot die in Megaton because of the Wasteland Survival Guide.

If you deliberately killed her, then you know what you are doing.

But if you accidentally killed her in Megaton, it would not be good and you could not complete the quest.

I don't see how making a servival guide can save you from a nuclear blast. If that was the case no one in America would have died in the great war. They knew about nuclear weapons and had anti-radation drugs.

She lived IMO because she was there as a joke.

Still what ever the reason, she is the rare exception not the rule.

I mean it is a easy starter quest Wasteland Survival Guide. It shows you some areas of the map in the process of doing it. Moira Brown not dying is to stop people killing the easy quest npc and getting stuck with hard ones after I think.

And it is probabely a joke also.

Humm I was thinking about this subject since somebody posted about zoo's. I am pulling this out of thin air and have no backing on it, but I am thinking animals may indeed be able to ghoul, unfortunatly they would tend to be rarity as most animals typically have about 1/6 or less of a life span when compared to a human.. And though the process does prolong life we know sooner or later all Human ghouls Feral out (or a least loose there minds heheh in loveable NPC's cases), so this leads me to believe Zombie time would occur a lot sooner in them, and that after so long probabally the brain just gets so bad they just well stop moving all together and become glowing, quivering, flesh piles or there body just fall apart completey making them useless (just happens in them a lot faster than humans). Also for say pack mentality type animals could be there own kind well recoginse somethings off about them and weed them out themselves before they pose a threat to the group. And in general Solitary feral animals I think would tend to be short lived as there not smart enough to not attack something that would destroy them, so unless there killing machines, there is plenty of stuff in the wastes to make there days numbered.

Least thats my take on it though maybe at some point we will get treated to a change of pants moment exploring some ruined vault when someones Prewar glowing one saint bernard (named Cujo of course) comes charging down a hallway baying like the hound of the baskervilles.

(Hmmm would glowing one dogs be Hellhounds I wonder)
