Giant Spiders

The spider level in dark messiah was absolutely sickening.

I never got past it. :sadvaultboy:

Quite disappointed to see Spiders in Skyrim. I never got past the Spiders part in Dragon Age origins so I just left it D: I liked that Elder Scrolls was a Fantasy RPG game without any of those creepy crawlies, but oh well. I can just mod them out anyways.

Daggerfall

Spiders scare the crap out of me(I have had nightmares), and I hope they are in this game.

Any game that can bring out an emotional reaction is a good game.

i seriously dislike spiders  but i think it would make a good addition. although i would prefer them out, it does add to the game i must admit. if an RL fobia attributes to your char then it could some effect. avoiding an area because of the spiders could be a way to add realism i suppose. i dunno, but that's just me, but i will just stick to my weapons and charge in with 'em :gun:

I was so happy playing Morrowind and Oblivion, two RPGs who didn't have giant spiders. Many RPGs have them, and sadly I have arachnophobia. I was having loads of fun with Dark MEssiah, until chapter 5, where all the giant spiders were crawling from the big tunnel, and unfortunately, I couldn't play any longer. I was wondering if I am the only one who has this? I mean, giant spiders aren't a necessity...

Mod it out. I would also recommend that you never play the game "Limbo"

Now http://angel.cs.msu.su/~salnikov/gilrond/Images/John_Howe/ungoliant_and_melkor.jpg would be frightening (click at your own risk, arachnophobes). Maybe Skyrim'll have some kind of "mother spider" boss monster.

I love the fact that giant spiders are back, just like in Daggerfall :P

And remember, don't let the http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/338/iraqispidersmall.jpg bite!

The games' configuration menu can have an "Accessibility" item, in which you could configure the game to me more accessible for different problems that players might have.

For instance you could replace spiders with different monsters, or increase the contrast of all the game content, or make fonts larger, and so on...

That's just plain stupid, you'd have to do the same for people who are afraid of wolves/dogs/zombies etc...

Just deal with it.

Maybe you can use the oppertunity as a kind of therapy. See if you can kill 100 giant spiders then you are SPIDER LORD! Okay, maybe not but might be fun :P

Well I was googling this earlier and found many instances of people just up and dropping a game because the inclusion of spiders, but rarely anything for others.

Kinda offtopic but spiders living in cold, snowy enviroment make little sense, because of their cold-bloodness (generalisation), they could not function in snowy enviroment, only way for them to survive would be to hibernate and wait for warmer time, I am not saying it's some great fault or something, it's just a bit odd that we have giant spiders in cold skyrim(pic of spider on snow) and there are none in presumably warmer imperial province, it's like they have not enough enemies types and they decided to include them just for diversity sake, ok rant off, you can always say they are "magic spiders";P.

Delete the meshes. Fight giant yellow exclamation marks. Fun!

On a more serious note though... An aunt of mine fought her arachnophobia and won. Through games. Said those things in there were way scarier than those in real life, and so learned to cope with it. Now not even those giant eight-legged freaks of Skyrim would scare her. Brave woman.

what do you mean morrowind and oblivion didnt have spiders?

morrowind had dwemer centurion spiders... and oblivion had spider daedra which summoned smaller spiderlings!

they had spiders, just not normal-looking ones.

oh, and the dreugh in oblivion was a bit spider/crab like, as well.

man that svcks :shakehead:

you could keep telling yourself they are pixels, OR try to face your fear head on, I used to have arachnophobia but I got over it by actually handling a small spider, I still won't touch the huge ones but if I see one I just don't freak out like I used to, now if I see a spider I just put an empty glass of water on them then scoupe them up with a paper and throw them out side :D, no need to kill the poor things.

we moved near the wilderness so I had to face my fear because spiders are EVERYWHERE, now I actually like them because they eat all the other annoying pests hehe.

It will be really REALLY hard to do it, but I know you can, cause I did, you won't be petting spider mind you! but you will be able to withstand their presence at least.

you have till 11.11.11 to do it, :goodjob:

Actually they do live in cold climates (not the arctic but sub-arctic) just like many species of insects.

So don't go and think you're all save because you live in a colder climate :P

I hate spiders, I tried to mod out Radscropions in Fo3 but it just crashed the game, so I just learned to live with them.(by that I mean looking away and shooting in every direction possible until they're dead) I really hope someone mods spiders out of Skyrim.(HOPEFULLY Bethesda adds an option to remove spiders)

A good friend of mine has this same problem. Though interestingly he can work through it if the spiders are tarantula style, big and fuzzy, but if they're black widow types, with giant abdomen and such, he just can't take it.

omg my friend has a weird phobia of RIBS yep RIBS anything that has ribs he freaks out about it, he can't stand cats/dogs/rats/mice/birds/fish....... anything with ribs, he can't even hug anyone, poor guy, its the weirdest thing ever, while I kiss snakes and pet frogs he runs away :shakehead:

If I got to choose, I'd rather not have spiders in ES V, but I will still play it if they're there and not too big and scary.

I'll make a mod that changes them into clowns, how about that? :P

Clowns scare me. :(
