Giant Spiders

Post » Thu Oct 21, 2010 6:46 pm

I'll make a mod that changes them into clowns, how about that? :P

god, that would be TRULY terrifying
give me demons and scorpians and spiders and hideous misshapen creatures, but please, for the love of god, leave clowns out of it
and mimes
if there are mimes anywhere, I won't be responsible for my actions

someone could just edit them into giant ants? just take off a pair of legts, shrink the abdomen and add a middle section lol, or somehow just scale them down to be small?

You like me, I cant stand spiders, and yes i also was terrefied when playing the spider temple in Dark Messiah. I even deleted the meshes and textures of spiders from the data files when playing oblivion with MMM.

I was so happy playing Morrowind and Oblivion, two RPGs who didn't have giant spiders. Many RPGs have them, and sadly I have arachnophobia. I was having loads of fun with Dark MEssiah, until chapter 5, where all the giant spiders were crawling from the big tunnel, and unfortunately, I couldn't play any longer. I was wondering if I am the only one who has this? I mean, giant spiders aren't a necessity...

i feel your pain........there were a couple of quests in fallen earth i avoided cause of the giant spiders. i dont mind the ones in some games like when i played WoW (dont worry i stopped after a month cause the game svckS) but those were so cartoony and horribly animated that they barely resembled spiders to begin with.

MMM for oblivion added some freaking creepy spiders.............yeah i had man up alot to fight those.

the one thing that i would hate to see in a video game would be giant centipedes. i can handle spiders to a degree but centipedes........forget it. im out that room and running to find my girlfriend so she can step on it.

edit: [censored] those dark messiah spiders were awful. and the only way to kill them is with that fire trap spell and the staff cause you dont get infinite arrows till you almost done fighting them.

Personally, I don't mind spiders. Or any living creature for that matter.

As long as they don't put a falling effect to the degree of Assassin's creed. I HATE heights.

I could feel my stomach knotting every time I jumped from a tower - _ -

Yikes! Are you kidding me? Didn't you ever watch Stephen King's "IT"? :ahhh:

"It" was a spider disguised as a clown!

Clowns are scary...

Simple solution:

Spiders. Punch 'em

Seriously, button mash the crap out of them while screaming until they fall over dead and twitching.

Not to make light of the situation, but the image of someone putting a hand in front of their eyes while button mashing a spider and screaming made me laugh out loud.

You walk into a dark, expansive chasm through a hole that seemed to be chiseled from the cliff-side. You walk slowly, listening for any sounds of anyone else looking to see if treasure still resides in these ruins. You finally reache the center of the expanse and see a white cloth laying on the ground. You bend down and pick up the cloth. The white cloth is sticky and won't come off your hand. Then from the darkness above comes a monster, the size of two siltstriders and 8 long, hairy thick legs. Silently descending then as quick as lightning snatches you from the ground and quickly ascends back into the darkness. That was the last time you ever see the light again....

I actually didn't think about this. I'm arachnophobic too and playing Dark Messiah was nightmarish. Once I turned around and one of those freak spiders jumped at me. I got scared so bad a slammed the power button on my computer. x_x

I hope it's not too bad. It depends on the game and the realism put into the spiders I guess. In games like Vindictus their spiders don't provoke any reaction from me. But again, Dark Messiah...*shudders*

I'll just have to see how this will go...

And if someone asks about the screaming just say you are imitating Thu'um.

Wow, so many people with arachnophobia. Bet Daggerfall scared the pants out of a lot of people out of TES.

Why would a dungeon full of giant spiders scare anyone with arachnophobia

What giant spider pictures?

Anyway, I am arachnophobic too. In real life I hate them so much I have spent many hours on chairs with hockey stick in hand trying to summon up the courage to kill that 8 legged monster that is just sitting on my wall. However, I am okay with them in games, in fact I put them into my own mods because they are the ultimate nightmare for me and scare the living **** out of me, making it more fun to play. Unlike many of the other monsters I encounter in games that have lost their ability to inspire any fear. It even creeps me out big time seeing spiders in the CS. :D ....So game ones...okay....real life ones....no thanks.

For some reason I didn't find the spiders in Daggerfall that scary. Could have been because they were green and didn't look very realistic.

I really hope the spiders in Skyrim wont be important for any big quest (like the spider daedra weren't) so I can simply remove them with the CS.
I haven't seen the image yet but since people say it's a tarantula I'm wondering: How does a tarantula survive in Skyrims climate?
I'm very sure they can't survive here in Sweden.

Aww, I love giant spiders in games, they're always some of my favourite monsters to fight, especially when they're as brutal looking as Skyrim's seem to be.

I can sympathise, though. If you guys play on PC, it should be trivial for modders to remove all the spiders in the game.

How can you hate giant spiders? They are so big and hairy, and fluffy! And cute! I just want to hug them! :hugs:

I'm in the same boat, spiders creep the hell out of me.

Don't know how I'll be with a virtual one, probably make my skin crawl, but it won't stop me playing the game.
Then again, the way they walk is all freaky like, if they do that in the game, imma gonna freak out...

Well I have insider information that when you kill the big spiders they will pop open and release 1000s of small creepy spiders that move incredibly fast. :chaos:

I'm also an arachnophobic, for me it went to the extent that i replaced the oblivion spider daedras with scams. I will propably do the same thing now, if nobody does it before me. My greatest concern is that dungeons or quests including them will rely so much on artwork related to them that it drastically remves immersion.

I will hunt you down for killing spiders and soul trap you. Then enchant some toilet paper with your soul, then take a dump on your corpse and use the enchanted paper to wipe.

I like spiders me. < I am going to make spider mounts if at all possible.

But seriously. I get ya. Someone will make a no spider mod for the arachnophobic.

Now if someone will make a mod that removes the necessitation to go to any high places, then everyone with a fear of heights wil be happy. J/k Doesn't work like that with me, I have to actually be up high before I fall over. TV or looking at high things doesn't mess with me
