A girl asked me out today

Post » Sat Feb 05, 2011 10:14 pm

Today a girl who I hardly know asked me out...
Well she didn't ask me out but her friend did, and needless to say I was quite surprised
But now I think about she was kind of giving me hints throughout the day like inviting me to a social event
Any way she is 2 years older than me and this is the first time a girl has asked me out
I said I'd give her an answer in a few days and I don't really know what to say

Help...

How old are you...... ?

I only ask because you said that her friend asked you out. That kind of thing happens in like 7th grade.

Get to know her a little better, go to said social event, then see how you feel towards her, THEN give her the answer.

Hmmm... I'd say convince a parent or sibling to take you both to the movies.

Let's be honest here. You're what, 15? Dating at that age really doesn't include romantic candle lit dinners and lengthy discussions about the quirks of life.

Yeah, but it's also not necessary for someone else to chaperone (or even drive them to) their date.

She's 2 years older than him, so she'll most likely be able to drive them herself.

OP, I say go for it, but like someone else said, you'd probably be better off going to the event with her first and then giving her an answer based on how it went and how you feel about her after that.

Do what I did whenever a girl asked me out; flee in terror.

Listen to me. You will say yes, and you will go on a date with this girl.

Are we [censored] clear? I SAID ARE WE [censored] CLEAR, PRIVATE?!

The OP lives in Australia. At sixteen you may get a learner's permit, which allows you to drive under the supervision of a fully licensed driver, and at eighteen you can upgrade it to a probationary licence (has various restrictions, but you can drive alone). It becomes a full licence a few years later.

But even with no car access, a third party is not needed. Tasmania doesn't have any towns large enough to require much more than feet :P.

No screaming? You must be improving! :P

We do indeed need to encourage equality in this area .

That doesn't svck, it would be great to not have to drive a car especially with gas prices going through the roof. Besides I would love to go visit Tasmania.
By the way, go on the date and she just might be the one you never know.

Well actually Tasmanian towns are so far apart having a car is almost compulsory and I the roads are so windy I vomit just about every half hour and I have to drive up a winding mountain everyday to get to school with a sheer rock face on one side and steep cliffs on the other and the insane drivers that fly around the corner nearly causing a head on crash AND the fact that there is average 1.0 roadkill to every driver on Tasmania roads, just this year we've already hit a duck and a slow moving crow add to all that the amount of drug takers in my community doesn't help...

That was longer than I thought...

Aye, getting between towns is a problem (I was going to mention that, but, obviously, I didn't), but that is true of all Australian states . What I had in mind was getting places within towns.

Win.

And seriously - why are we your relationship advice people? I'd bet money that most here are single, and a fair few have little to none experience in dating.

Don't make me invent JGOWH (Just Go Out With Her), because I swear I'll do it.

Oh wait...

Is coming here worse than writing to an agony aunt column?

No, no - the answers here are much funnier. For example - Spectre, I think you're going to have to wip out your trusty steed and the vaseline for this one.
