Give Us back Our Pole arms!

Post » Sat Dec 17, 2011 12:53 am

Hey, guys. After seeing all the finishing moves on Skyrim, I was thinking if there was any spears on Skyrim. But turns out.. There still aren't back.
Pole arms on Morrowind were definitely not the best, but provided a fast, and a some what long-ranged attack (not sure about the last part). Ever since Oblivion came out, the spears vanished with no explanation. As well as these other weapons..

1 - The Crossbows

2 - Throwing Stars

3 - Throwing Darts

4 - Battle Staffs (Which weren't that good, but can be when enchanted).

5 - The Short-Swords (Wouldn't have been very important on Skyrim anyways, but can benefit assassinations from behind, or if you want to get some fast cuts on your opponent. The Short-swords were weaker than Long-Swords, but had greater damage than the Knives).

6 - Daedric Crescent?.. (Not sure if it's on Skyrim or not, But it was a VERY rare item. In fact, it was the rarest. If it's not on there, I would love to have it back on. If it's like Nettlebane on Skyrim "Being the oldest item that ever existed", and unusable, that would be fine.

Well.. 5 (or 6) weapons! What has gotten into you Bethesda? I loved all of those weapons until you removed them :(. If you truely love Elderscrolls, please bring back those weapons! Just think about how awesome the Spear's finishing move would be.. Impaling your opponent with a sharp and long spear, and throwing him off your spear to the side. That would be amazing!

Think about it, Bethesda.

Bethesda likes to remove weapons that they think are "redundant".

The only two weapons I want back are staves and spears, but I really doubt Bethesda is going to add them in a DLC.

Crossbows were only in Morrowind (IIRC) and are a bit too out of period when it comes to TES, at least IMO. Throwing Stars are too Asian.

Throwing knives (or daggers) now..

Throwing stars, crossbows, and Polearms disappeared as quickly as they came. Out of 5 TES games, only 1 had any of those weapons. Out of 9 TES games, only two.

All the Daedric Crescents were destroyed. Unlike other Artifacts, it's not really a "Special" weapon (It can be destroyed, like any normally-smithed weapon) - If it's still around, the Nerevarine took it with him to Akavir. The other artifacts he had have a magical "Randomized Recall" function, poofing whenver they feel overused by one person, or if someone tries doing something they don't like (Such as trying to take it off-continent).

And, no new Daedric crecents are being manufactured because a host of Daedra armed with them lost to a rookie battlemage. They've been deemed ineffective by all the Princes.

Well, the fantasy warhammer is a modification of the medievel poleaxe(hammer, axe and spear in one) so they are still there :P

Okay seriously: More weapons would be fun IMO.

They have been gone since 2002. Time to move on and stop whining. It will be coming up on a decade soon, time to let it go man.

Heheheh, you should've seen the amount of spear threads before Skyrim came out. I think they should give one to M'aiq, just to troll them :P

Oh man, spears would be amazing! And not those lame, flimsy ones....maybe like....even tridents? Tridents are totally badass, not to mention you could put some awesome enchantments on em.

Yeah I cant see why including polearms was such a difficult thing to do. A few animations and finishing moves and voila polearms. Would have made a lot of people happy.

Throwing Axes! :D

As long as you let me throw any of them. That'd give me a reason to haul around all of those Ancient Nord War and Battle Axes. Nobody would expect you hurling one of those at 'em.

while we are on the topic of weapons, why not sythes? they are hard to wield, i know, but since this is a game it could really add to the entertainment value imo

Adding pikes and lances with inclusion of mounted combat = win.

And, it should be "Unusable", so you can't access it through pickpocketting or other looting systems.

2 - Throwing Stars

3 - Throwing Darts

The problem with this sort of thing is always the animations. Assuming you've got someone with enough time, skill, and the engine lets you do it..maybe?

A Scythe is a farm tool, Voice of Reason. They were a regular-unusable item in oblivion at Farm houses, but they shouldn't be used as weapons. It would be a bit too much.

Throwing Stars in Elderscrolls weren't intended to be from Asia, China, America or whatever. Don't be too literal. Plus, that is some what racist. Please don't post like that in my threads.

Okay Yes. I've made way too many replies but YES, Sycarcious. I would also agree on Throwing Axes. (I also forgot Throwing Knives disappeared).
