But what? You do indeed use your http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Detonator_(Fallout:_New_Vegas). Exact same process as using a pistol, except it sets off any planted C4 rather than firing a bullet. :shrug:

You can also shoot the C4 to blow it up. Not as much control, and you have to be accurate.

The detonator gives you more precise (and stealthy) control.

lol, but I don't have one..................... guess i missed it when I found the c4, i don't even remember where i found it. guess i will be shooting it lol

Put a frag mine in with the C4, that should work and saves the accuracy (which can be difficult since sometimes they won't explode, even when shot repeatedly and perfectly...)

Detonators are normally cheap and I think always come with C4...Johnson Nash in Primm has always had a detonator in my playthroughs.

O L Gibson occasionally has one too.

Most travelling merchants possess detonator's you can buy of them for 20-30 caps.

Also, if you want to try this, there is almost always a travelling merchant in main Vegas.

I usually find a detonator at Mick and Ralph's in the 'special' inventory.
