There won't be much difference, just more details in the enviroment and textures will look better. That's really the only difference between the two besides the other stuff that PC has exclusively available.

In other words, really not very much. Especially when the differences in capabilities are taken into consideration.

There will be a noticable difference with near objects. Distant objects will look almost the same.

Besides texture quality, you might only see a better draw distance for grass and shadows (which could help a ton, though). I don't expect anything else. :sadvaultboy:

I guess all that you've named will make a big difference (judging from Oblivion)

Interesting - is that xbox at 1280x720 and vanilla PC at 1280x720?

better draw distance for everything else, too - specular mapping, statics, actors, everything. more than that, it'll all be highly scalable through the ini, so you can set it to crazy levels.

i don't get why PC gamers are whining about the vanilla graphics when they'll be able to mod the [censored] out of them anyway. i mean seriously are circles that aren't completely round really that make or break for you?

That is correct.

Even though I'm strictly a PC gamer when it comes to TES games, it does kind've make sense for Bethesda to only show shots from the 360. If the PC version looks significantly better, it'll just give a false impression of the game to console gamers who make up a huge chunk of the sales. And if it doesn't look much better at all, then why bother? By showing the game at it's worst, PC gamers will be pleasantly suprised with how their game looks, and console gamers won't be disappointed.

Think it depend a lot on that is standard in the industry, might be that the standard is to show it on console.
Another reason is that they might not be done tweaking the PC rendering any shot might be worse than the final result.

I doubt they've even worked on any of the PC specific features yet.

So a 1920x1080 vanilla Skyrim screen maxed out with (I hope) better PC detail settings than Oblivion's settings should be kickass if they ever decide to throw us a bone and release one.

yeah, the difference in 2006 was few, but in 2005 the pc configuration was more or less the same of ps3 and 360 (i speak about hw power), in 2011 the difference must be more deeper

Would you people who argue about this rather have a small elite group who can afford the very best and others have nothing at all?

Is this a trick question?

Honestly, the only difference I see, is that the PC pic is darker. If you darken the xbox pic, they should be even closer

Obviously even if the PC version gets the shaft, at an absolute minimum the game is still going to look a lot better at 1080p or greater resolution with high res textures, high quality shadows, etc.

to get decent frame rates at that resolution you only need a $90 graphics card like GTS 450

not exactly a small elite group

Look at the texture's quality on the tracks. On PC it looks quite decent, while on XBox it looks absolutely abysmal.

That's NOT how things work. Skyrim will need to make as good a first-impression as possible. If it is hyped to the moon and does well on the first week, it will be a massive success. Some disappointment of graphics among some fans won't make anyone at Bethesda care, really.
