I give up..

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 6:28 pm

So after buying "decorations" for my house, i decided to take all the junk off the shelves and tables and make my Whiterun house all cozy and whatnot. After about an hour of organizing ( by organizing i mean thrashing the item all over the walls, floors, and dressers to get the item upright ) my weapons around the house and dwemer dishware on the tables, i leave and comeback to what looks like someone blew a fire rune in my house. I give up decorating my house the way i want, im thinking of resorting to inns the rest of my days. This is more annoying than the over-filled loot sack.. Talos take me now.

LOL that takes me back to Oblivion a guard followed me into my house and started smashing all my decorations to pieces as I ran around. That day I killed somewhere around 60 guards because I didn't feel like loading a previous save file.

ya, I would save the house to just store gear you want to keep for now. There are known issues with things not working right yet when it comes to houses. It will get fixed eventually. I did the same thing you did and was incredibly frustrated... But that's the way it goes with these huge games when they are first released.... They catch as many bugs as they can, but until it goes lives and million of users with millions of different set-ups install and run the game, there is just no way to get everything perfect.

I leave Lydia in my Whiterun house and I swear to god, she eats the food and nudges stuff.

Items you set out for display are also incredibly sensitive to any little shock in any area of the house. I gave up on trying to display a nice pile of gold bars on the doorside table because they would invariably be jarred onto the floor by the simple act of going upstairs.

Also, I've discovered the blacksmith from Warmaiden's leaving my house once or twice. Not sure what Lydia's up to with him, but I'm positive it doesn't help any of my decorations.

It's a bug - items you dropped & moved will return back to where you dropped them when you return.

There is a simple solution to that. Drop everything you wanna arrange, leave the house, go back in. Now start arranging.
As long as the items don't go into your inventory again, they're not gonna explode.
