http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yz54GILHkNg is what I think of when people label the races of Elder Scrolls as "Oh, they are based on this" especially when they go so far as to ask for more influence. How about some originality?
I mean no offense to the OP I'm just saying... It's not like Bethesda said "Okay, this race is X race in real life. Let's base everything off that" If anything the artists and designers were influenced subconsciously but stuff they were reading/into at the time. My point is you can't just "pin" any race in Elder Scrolls to a real world counterpart.
never really noticed the Japanese connection, but to me it would definitely be weird to have the orcs use that accent. I think back to Quest for Glory 5 when they had the Khatta (that game's Khajit) speak with an accent. - Granted, his people were based on Persians but since he owned the shop he made you think of Apu from the Simpsons. Don't give them an accent, unless it's an original one. I would prefer snarling brutish lore unfriendly orcs to Japanese ones.
Sigh.. why not. I'm fed up with every damn accent sounding the same, speaking the exact dialect, tone, manerisms and subtlety as the last genero high fantasy voice.
Though not japanese, Orcs are more Hunish or Mongolian.
Idk i am Caucasian mutt, mixed with American Indian,Polish,Germen,Irish,British. yet sometimes I accually get a Irish accent O_O and dear lord do i LOVE it
TES cultures are not meant to be X IN FANTASY LAND!!!1 cultures -- FRENCH IN FANTASY LAND, LITHUANIANS IN FANTASY LAND, JEWS IN FANTASY LAND, SWEDES IN FANTASY LAND, or anything like that. They're inspired by a number of different cultures to help keep them varied and interesting. So no. This would be awful.
