Give the Orcs Japanese Accents!

So people don't want to associate the races in TES with certain cultures/nationalities yet everyone is fine with NPCs having American and British accents and mannerisms?

That is because most of us are American/ British and have those mannerisms. Also Bethesda is an American Company its employees are very exposed to those mannerisms seeing as how they live in America.

Correct. As a very large portion of the audience either possesses one of these accents or, at the very least, is acclimatised to hearing them, making them kind of inaudible to most listeners. You give one race a random accent, for no real reason whatsoever, and it's going to stick out like a sore thumb.

I got an idea, use the VAs for the orcs in MW. Nothing like the sound of that extremely loud cough upon entering an orc home.

Hmm, chances of this sounding horribly racist and absolutely ridiculous are so high I'm just going to say no right now.

I'm going to go with him on this one. Not to mention: Orcs are supposed to sound like ORCS - as in big, gruff beastmen.

I love the Eastern influences for the Orc culture, but let's not get too carried away, eh?

In the English versions, yes, although I wouldn't say Nords in Morrowind, Sheogorath in Shivering Isles, or Argonians//Khajiit, in general, have very American or British accents. Anyway, I'm sure if you're playing the game in French, you'll hear French accents, if you play it in German, you'll hear German accents, and the same would likely go for all other regionalized versions of the games, and that's mostly okay, in my opinion, for the reasons others have posted with those accents being the default accents of the regions most of us, if not all of us, playing these games live in. However, mannerisms aren't all American or British, either. The average American doesn't act as many Orcs I've come across do. I don't know about everyone else, but "Get lost or I'll pull your arm off" isn't a very typical greeting, where I live. :P

No, I don't care f the mannerisms are in.

But don't put the whole damn culture on one race. Put a bit of an accent into one race with the armor style of another culture in the mix.

Tired of just pasting the whole japanese(example) culture into one race.

Nord cant see, so he goes to an Orc optometrist, Orc says "I 'see' the problem here, you have a cataract."

The Nord says "No, I drive a Lincoln Continental."

This community is great. On topic:No, Orc's remind me very little of the Japanese. Admittedly it'd be hilarious to see an Orc talking in your stereotypical Japanese accent

I do not want to see Japan in any game that is not directly portraying something that is Japanese. Keep TES free of the ANIME plague, please.

The Altmer, Bosmer, and Dunmer have British sounding accents, Argonians and Khajiits have a Mediterranean/Mid-Eastern sounding accent.

To Answer the OPs question: NO! The Orcs are a combination of various Northeast Asian and Central Asian cultures. No one accent really fits them IMO

Frankly, I could see a German accent as far more likely than Japanese. I mean, the feudal Japanese were more renown for their technique and I seem to equate them with far more brute force.

You forgot to capitolize Sensei in the poll, as it is a proper noun, and term of respect, like Mr.
