Giving Up on Oblivion

Post » Fri Aug 24, 2012 4:51 am

So I finally got more interest to play Oblivion.I may be level 4, but I've made it to the optional "Allies for Bruma" and the "Sancre Tor" quests (getting Talos' armor).

And what do you know, I get infected with Vampirism. Being new at this ES game, I didn't even know I had the damn disease until it was to late. I was going good, had equipment I liked and everything. Then I finished the Miscarand Quest, exited. My health drains. Can't fast travel cause I'm taking damage. So I try running somewhere but end up dying. Reload!

I go into Miscarand and rest until night, and come out and travel to Skingrad to get help for Bruma. I have to rest a few hours to make night into day. I can't find out how to do it cause I didn't know you have to talk to the Steward first. "Close the Oblivion Gate" he says, but I realize I'm going to have to put off all this [censored] (delaying the MQ) just to cure this damn Vampirism. I walk outside, nearly die by the sunlight, so I go back in and rest until night. I fast-travel to Chorrol to the Temple of Stendarr, see if they can help.

At the Temple, they redirect me to the Imperial City Mages place, whatever it is. They tell me go to Skingrad (...again). Once there I figure out that [censored] don't know either, so I have to go to that Glenmoril Witch, expecting to face a Hagraven and get a cure like that. NOPE! She makes me go get [censored] Grand Soul Gems... which I have none at the moment.

It's 4 AM, so I try to rest in her house, but it says I can't cause I'm trespassing. [censored] it, I say. I fast-travel to the Imperial City, where I die within 10-20 seconds in the sunlight. I manage to make it to "The Best Defense" and try to sell off my loot... but I can't cause I'm a damn Vampire. So I rest until 8 PM to go to a mage-like shop and buy soul-gems. But I can't cause I can only come out at night - when shops are closed - and I would not be able to talk to any shopkeepers regardless.

All I want is to remove Vampirism - nothing more! I have to put off the MQ cause of this [censored], and it's really aggravating trying to play as a damn Vampire. I just want to do the MQ!

Some help, tips, and suggestions... please?

Find a beggar. Most cities have em. They sleep out in the open. Feed on one and you can walk around in the day, talk to people, and what have you.

You could use the console to remove the vampirism...

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Console_Command_Tutorial#Curing_Vampirism_Using_the_Console

There is usually a message that pops up in the top left corner of the screen when contracting the disease Porphyric Hemophilia, and you can use the magic effects part of the inventory to check up on the different things affecting you for better or worse.

Just feed on anyone sleeping.(Go sneak mode and activate someone that is sleeping as if you were going to steal from them. This will not kill them, don't worry) You'll no longer take damage from the sun and people will talk to you without freaking out.

Found one Soul Gem in the Squandered Mine, and tried the Duplicating glitch, but it's been patched.

EDIT: You know what, just forget it. I just want to do the MQ, nothing more. This Vampire crap really ruined it for me. Thanks for the help, but I'm not going to be playing this anymore.

You could always start a new character and be extra careful to avoid Porphyric Hemophilia next time

Edit: Though I feel your pain, I lost my first ever character of 80 hours trapped inside an Oblivion gate due to a glitch and my previous saving pattern (one file constantly being overwritten!)

Well, to paraphrase what one of those Dremora says...

"Your save game is now forfeit! Your character will be mine!"

Sorry, I guess. I just never play these kind of games on PC.

I don't feel like doing all that crap again. Perhaps just forget the MQ and do the Fighter's Guild quests.

Just walk in the nearest mages guild hall at night and feed on a sleeping mage. Or a beggar, just make sure a guard doesn't see you. Living with Vampirism in Oblivion isn't hard at all if you simply take a minute to feed on a sleeping NPC every night and that way keep your sickness at stage 1 wherein you don't take sun damage and people still like you. There is no reason to rage quit over this at all.

do the damn curing vampirism quest doesnt take that long...go to stores that sell soul gems! only buy grand without souls
Join the Fighters guild if you need money. do Ayled Ruins if you dont want to join any guild right now, they always have good money bring everything you can and its ALOT expensive also its a good way to find soul gems.
