Giving to the Poor

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:42 am

I always wanted to be able to take the things I stole/found and give them to the poor, especially around the Waterfront. I wish that, if you went in a poor region like that and dropped food/money/supplies, that the beggars would actually pick them up and make use of them, and maybe even acknowledge you for it! This could make you gain reputation/popularity amongst certain groups of people, and would really add to the level of immersion.

Yes, please don't take this request as a license to simply continue the Oblivion system of "spare a coin" to random beggars who serve no purpose other than to receive said coins and direct you to the Grey Fox.

Yes, I don't mean, make it a necessary thing like giving them a coin for information. Just add a component where you can willfully give them something just for the fact that it will help them out. It'd be great!

That's funny because I always wanted to take from the poor (especially the ones in the waterfront) and give to the rich who don't need it. They should have a tax collectors guild.

Automatic -50 Disposition from everyone in Skyrim.

-100 In the poorest parts of the city so they attack on sight. XD

And the Xbox achievement for completing the guild quest line should be "Yeaaaaaaaaah I'm the Tax Maaaaaaaaan"

Haha you're sick, but I will admit that a "Tax Collector's Guild" is an interesting idea. Really adds some diversity to the guilds! Plus, it would be hard to be in a Thieves Guild, if you were also in a Tax Collector's Guild. This way you'd have to make choices!

The only thing I would want to give those whiny beggars is a black eye!

Jokes!... but seriously, I don't care about the fictional homeless, unless it serves some purpose in-game.

It would be interesting if you could watch the beggar take your hard earned coin. The coin you handed over because his family is "sick and hungry.", and spend it away in the nearest pub. Then, drunk and disoriented, he passes out in an alley.

In contrast, some needy folk might actually use it to buy food or medicine for their families, and are eternally grateful from that moment on.

they will go for the food if they don't have any, because of the AI package they will search for food in an area so if you drop the food in the area they will eat it if they have none

I'd do that. I'd do that first thing.

OT: Like the idea, although I'd never do that, unless the goods were stolen.

"One more coin and I can buy a new pair of shoes." *Weeks later, still barefoot* Indeed would be nice if in Skyrim you can actually do some good for the poor and watch them actually use your donations to actually get themselves something to wear on their feet, etc.

It would be cool if 100 gp and some food would keep them off the streets for a while. Be interesting if you could put a rich person in the poor house by robbing them.
