[WIPz] At-A-Glance companion health bars

Post » Sat Apr 17, 2010 4:23 am

I'm making a shader-script combination that quickly shows the health bar of whatever you look at, without any menu-mumbo-jumbo. I'm building it primarily for companions, and I want it to be as compatible as possible, but I don't really use companion mods except the ones that come with MCA. So if anyone would recommend their favorite companion mod(s), I can double check that everything's working right. And I would like to know two more things, what would be the best place to put the health bar, and how big?

Well, I was making great headway with this earlier, but now I've hit a wall. I http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/4008/mgescreenshot417.png to the point of release, except for a slight texture oddity and some scaling issues. Did you know scaling affects position, too? :shrug: Weird.

Well, I went back to fix the texture, and fix the scaling, and BAM! http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/4696/mgescreenshot428.png. The texture is way stretched, and it doesn't obey scaling calls. It scales, but it doesn't scale right. So I tried for a couple of hours to fix it, and nothing worked. Thinking I was stuck in a corner, I reverted back to an earlier revision from before any of this happened. And guess what? It's happening with those versions, too. I am at a loss for mental activity at this point. Nothing is working. I've tried using TGA's, DDS's, and BMP's, but none of them act differently. I've tried reverting all of the variables to... non-variables. I've tried http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/996/mgescreenshot453.png, different scales, rebooting my computer, and pleading to the Random Number God. Nothing is working.

:ahhh:

[/frustration]

Anyway, for future plans, I want to be able to "lock" companion health bars so you can keep track of them without having to look at them, and without having to jump through a menu. http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/4364/mgescreenshot387.png What key would be best for a "lock" function?

I'd go with something like Home, End, Delete, etc. They're not used in the game and it's hard to do a miss-click.

@skaeps.mp3
You might want to take a look at Yacoby's http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23720 mod. I believe they always show once initialized.

Requires MGE v3.0.3+ and MWSE.
