This thread is probably done before, but is anyone actually spying on Glarthir?

To my knowledge he is just paranoia and convinced that someone is spying on him.

That is exatly what I think to, but I just wanted to know if it was anything more.

Yes, he is just paranoid. By the way, the name of the quest was poorly chosen by the devs, because it makes it clear from the beginning that Glarthir is paranoid. It would have been better if the quest was named something like "The Conspiracy" or "This Bosmer deserves a kick in the ass just like all the others".

Heh, I agree. The first time I did this quest, I made a big deal of skulking around following Glarthir's targets. It was a nice way to learn some of Skingrad. Having Captian Dion suddenly appear in your face giving you the third degree was as big a surprise as stumbling upon a zombie in a dungeon! :o Nope, we didn't wet our greaves over that.

...or "This Bosmer deserves a kick in the ass just like all the others".

La la la la. . . I'm not listening. . . la la. . .

:stare: Oh, you're just a big ol' meanie!!! :meh:

Someday, Buffy and her http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot726.jpg are gonna come after you and hold you down and tickle you till you cry!

If you follow the people he mentions, you don't see anything unusual. And the Wiki and Prima Guide say there there's nothing too it.

But maybe that just what they want you to think :shifty:

It could be that you're just part of they're plot to get rid of Glathir or marginalize him by making everyone think he's crazy.

Perhaps it's bigger that we than! The truth is out there. But perhaps I've said too much already.

You may be on to something there Savlian. Just keep it hush-hush to avoid trouble :whistling:

I just think he's a sad paranoid person.
Usually this is what happens with the quest:
1) My character freaks out at this stranger whispering to meet him behind a chapel and runs/kills him.
2) After completing the quest just kills him and lets Sheogorath take care of him.

Well, acutally, I made http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo111/Khajiitsofthenine/Hewasright-1-1.jpg early one morning. Maybe he wasn't as paranoid as we think he is?

First time that happened to me, I was in my Rosethorn bedroom arranging books. It scared the crap out of me. No NPC ever normally enters your safe haven.

What exactly is she doing other than facing towards his house?

Hardly damning evidence. :P

Well she's... eating.
Note that I said 'as paranoid', so he is still quite paranoid, but he has an excuse.

I don't know if he was being followed or not. I just want to know what a Marukhati Selective is.

I found Glarthir's house pretty scary, pretty bare with loads of books stacked everywhere, typical real life nutcase lair.

I thought it was unfortunate implications, as if Bethesda were saying loners who like to read a lot are actually paranoid freaks who think everyone else wants to kill them.

J/K.

At any rate, it just shows how scary it can be for a paranoid person, believing that everyone is out to kill you and you don't know why. Whatever they say could just be a lie to get you lulled into a false sense of security.

Yeah, I agree. I thought Bethesda handled this quest really well. It's one of my favourites in the game.

There is SOO much I could tell you, fill in the gaps you know . . . Marikhatu selectives though . . . if I told you the whole story, then you'd be in danger too.

Well, people going on around town (Skingrad) on how paranoid he is, all the time, is probably what makes the guy (Glarthir) think there's some sort of conspiracy going on against him. Poor guy doesn't realize his own weirdness is what's making people stare at him all the time. Such is the case with minds in a state of insanity.

I don't know if he was being followed or not. I just want to know what a Marukhati Selective is.

Heres some info.

Edit: Oh and to answer the thread question. Glarthir isn't being followed. But seeing as how we're all talking about him like the townsfolk of Skingrad, it probably won't help his state of mind. :P

Ahhhh, a theocracy to overthrow elf rule and conspire to war against the Bosmer . . . now it IS starting to make sense.

Wouldn't it be great if Skyrim had some reference to Glathir that would make us question his insanity.

Even if it was just a note found in some dungeon in Skyrim saying something like "That wood elf in Skingrad was getting close to discovering our plans. Fortunately he's no longer a threat."

I've had Glathir follow me around Skingrad and also outside the city. So am I paranoid ? Who cares! And even though I completed the quest I've never actually had to kill him. Either the guards or townsfolk have disposed of him for me, though I get credited with the poor unfortunate loons demise in my journal. Now I know he'll follow me outside the city I usually lead him to the bandit cave just outside and let them dispose of him while I flee. He's never mentioned in dialouge because its the first thing I do in Skingrad. Skingrad without Glathir what could be finer ?!?
