Glass Armour ?!? ! ? (

Post » Tue Sep 20, 2011 9:51 am

do we have any screen shots of glass armour for skyrim yet?

I really hope they go back to the bad assery that was Morrowind's (any one have screen shots of that stuff?)

also did glass armour exist back in Hammerfell and past games I've only played Morrowind and Oblivion and it look uninspired in Oblivion (again screen shots for comparison any one?)

Why not just Google these things? I don't see the point in making a thread to ask about it. No need to be lazy my friend. Those fingers can find more things than you realise. There are no screenshots. I hope there won't be, as it would be more surprising to find them in the game.

QFT. I think it's ADHD in people that makes them post so many useless polls and threads.

Im starting to think that we can only use glass to upgrade exsisting items. That sword in the demo was elven glass and that concept art looks to be elven glass as well.

The sword was called "Glass Sword", not "Elves Glass Sword", and it has been confirmed that upgrading doesn't change the looks.

What I think is that Glass Armor and weapons were made by Elves, hence the Elven design. When Todd said "Elven Glass Sword" he referred to that.

I really never understood how glass, friggin GLASS could be used as weapons & armor & don't shatter into a million pieces in a single hit in TES games. Makes no sense TBH. The strongest light armor in-game should have been Mithril IMHO.

Todd called it an Elven Glass sword in one of the demos.I am pretty sure Eurogamer and a Gamespot article also mentioned finding "a shining elven glass sword".I didnt know about the confirmation. Not sure what to think about it now.

I know he called it like that, but I'm pretty sure he was just saying that it was of Elven origin. In the trailer, you can see that it's simply called "Glass Sword".

...

Haven't you thought that maybe, just MAYBE, what is called glass in Tamriel isn't the same as what we call glass...?

That green, shiny glass, is a super precious and rare material, very resistant while quite light.

I understand what you are saying, but you said it is not an Elven Glass sword. If it is a glass sword of "Elven origin",then it is in fact an Elven Glass Sword".I admit that i dont know if the glass is added by the player through smithing,or if its already made that way.I only assumed. Also,if you look at your first post, you say that its a glass sword then in your second you say elven..I am very confused sir :(

"Raw glass is similar to raw ebony, but less well-known. Ebony is jet black, while glass is a milky translucent green. Less durable, but much lighter and more flexible than ebony, glass is used primarily to make the distinctive, elegant glass armors and weapons of High Elven design."

Also note the ammount of Glass, and Glass Mines, in Morrowind. So it seems that Glass is primarily because of Red Mountain and found mostly in Vvardenfell. Or was.

I'd say the reason Oblivion's Glass sets look so bad is that its made for High-Born Imperial nobles, to look impressive (or over-the-top), rather than the practical way it was supposed to be in Morrowind. It's sleek and shiny, rather than deposits inlaid. In Skyrim, i'd imagine we may get a return to more Morrowind-like glass gear from the constant battles between the Dunmer and the Nords.

Ok, maybe I'm not explaining properly...

I think it is a Glass (material) sword with Elven design. However, in the game is just called Glass Sword. All Glass stuff in Skyrim have been made by Elves, I think, that's why Todd called it "Elven Glass Sword", even in the game it's just Glass Sword.

Oh, and in my second post I wantedt to say "Glass Sword"... thanks, for pointing that out. I'll correct it.
