Glass Armour

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 4:24 pm

I hate glass armor!! Its horrible!!

It looks like a weirdass spaceage ugly-suit!! (as in a hightech suit designed in the future to make the wearer look as ugly and ridiculous as possible)

In fact i hate it so much im gonna make a poll about it.

I wonder what the devs were thinking when they designed it... Were they really that oblivious to how ugly it looked?? Or is it a Lore thing? What do you guys think?

*EDIT Please note that "GLLARRGHAAALLL! BLLAGGHaLL!! " represents the highest order of dislike regarding Glass Armor.*

It looks alright as long as I don't have to use the helmet

I too, hate the glass armor, except, the greaves. The greaves rock, and look good with a leather cuirass. It seems too shiny to be good at helping you sneak around.

The Morrowind version looked truly wicked and exotic. The suit in Oblivion just looks like plate armor made of glass.

Glass armor is fun, it should just be a whole lot rarer than it was in Oblivion. That way when you get it its freaky appearance should look justified.

Since I would never punch kittens, I went with the GLLARRGHAAALLL! BLLAGGHaLL!!

I use a mod that changes the color from green to a silvery shade, which seems much more appropriate to something that is supposed to be star-made. It does not look so bad as the vanilla. The helmet is still awful though.

I voted "It's alright". In actuality I find Glass a mixed bag. I agree with the poster who said the greaves are rather nice. I think the gauntlets are fine too. I like the female version of the cuirass, but NOT the male... big difference there. I don't care for the footwear, but leather boots are a good visual match for glass greaves. The helm does nothing for me either, but that too can worked around. So as a matched set I'd say no, glass is not a favorite. But for females the cuirass, leggings and gauntlets combined with suitable footwear and helm has its appeal.

Hmm... I agree with most posts up here... A change in the coloring or rarity would make it less undesirable.

It just gets so weird towards the end when every bandit looks like some kind of big, shiny hard-candy creature.

Maybe I should add a "Devs were Drunk/color blind' option to the poll haha

The only problem i have with it is the helmet. Like with every other armor, come to think of it

Indeed. I have a mod that changes the color (of glass armor and weapons both) to a much darker, jade green shade. Much more pleasing to the eye. :)

I thought Glass armor in Morrowind was truly spectacular. My light armor-wearing characters couldn't wait to get their hands on it. My Oblivion light armor-wearing characters, on the other hand, will use almost any other armor in the game before they put on Glass armor.

What I do instead of wearing armor I don't like (which, alas, is most of the armor in Oblivion) is makes several copies of Leather armor for my light armor characters, each with stats that match Chainmail, Mithril, Elven, etc, so that my characters can stay in Leather while receiving the benefit of higher-level armor.

I voted: I think its pretty ugly but I can deal with it.

I'd like the vote the "I hate it option" but I don't hate it so much I'd punch kittens. But it's pretty bad.

Like you say the mess is clumsy on ugly, particularly for Light Armor which should look Light and Agile. And the green neon is weird. I'm not a fan of Glass.

Glass retexture mods make it better, so I can deal with it. :P

I dont even use armor since i started playing a pure mage character. But i remember how horrible it looks. I felt like a beetle... I love the way elven armor looks though! I wish they had made that the most powerful type of armor.

It makes my character's eyes hurt to look at it. She would certainly never consider wearing it. I do believe it is the ugliest armor in the game.

I kind of gather from the position of "GLLARRGHAAALLL! BLLAGGHaLL!! Glass is da EVULZ!!!!" is translated as "Glass Armor looks great!!!". I wonder if that's what everyone thought.

Jeez... I hadn't actually seen a full suit of it until I looked it up just now. It looks like it would suit an Argonian, but not much else. Recommend a good mod to make it look better?

I just voted for it because it called out to me, somehow.

I actually feel that glass is pretty ugly.

I felt that the glass armor in Morrowind was beautiful and exotic. It seemed to fit there with the overall fantastic look of the landscape and the oddly rendered Dunmer faces.

Not so in Oblivion. It looks out of place, and makes me think of some kind of strange "superhero suit."

I think glass in any form looks very nice (even though it looks better in Morrowind). It′s not suitable for Lothran but he did use it in his early days

I prefer the glass weapons over the armor i don't know why. I prefer the DB armor.
