Dwarven: OB

Glass: MW

Daedric: Both are awesome. I don't really care with this one.

Actually in all good honesty, I threw in the Dwarven armor just because it was the only set that I preferred the Oblivion iteration of - and it'd make the poll seem less biased as a result. Either way, there's been no bashing yet and I'm quite interested by the different ways people prioritize what's "important" in the design of TES armor.

Something fresh and new :)

Also how did you know I had a thing for catsuits liked the Underworld films? :ninja:

I always thought both the glass and the Daedric looked silly in both those games.

Daedric’s alright if you’re an evil character, but it always seemed a little obviuos to me.

I did like the Dwarven armor a lot better in Oblivion.

Skyrim interpretation for glass, Oblivion style Dwemer and Daedric (hated the MW version for Dwemer, so ugly).

Glass - Morrowind
Daedric - Morrowind
Dwemer - Oblivion

This.

Glass armor in MW was very stylish and JCarl's recreation for OB was as spot on.
Glass armor in OB was an eyesore (sorry). Glass weapon designs were pretty nice though.

Deadric armor in MW was the best design of any armor in either game. Weapons were hit or miss (some good/some bad).
Daedric armor in OB 'could' have been much better if it was closer to the http://www.imperial-library.info/content/daedric-armor-concept-art.

Dwemer armor in MW was interesting 'steam punk' style but not appropriate for 'armor'. I also disagreed with the rusted-beat to crap look as according to lore the dwemeric metal was supposed to be 'incorruptible'.
Dwemer armor in OB was pretty sweat except the boots were oversized and pauldrons were undersigned (and self clipped). Weapons needed a bit more work though. All looked blunt.

Overall the multi-piece armor sets in OB all suffered from 'fat suit' effect to minimize clipping. I REALLY hope we don't see that again.

And just a note to the modellers at BGS: Items that are close to the camera in a 1st game need to have 'higher polys and better textures' (like hands, gloves, gauntlets, weapons). Please!

I liked the glass from oblivion, but change the helm.

I'm tired of helms always being open faced. I think they did this mostly because of the beast races snouts.

Then again daedric helm was closed? Whats up with that? I'd like there to more face covering helmets.

I didn't like the glass from morrowind, it had a Goku look on the helm.

I liked the various helms of daedric in morrowind, but I found the armor to be ugly

the dwemer armor from morrowwind :intergalactic:

I figured we have so many redundant polls around here nowadays it couldn't hurt to have another one. I need the distraction from the omnipresent lack-of-Gameinformer syndrome. Just a few more days! *huff huff huff*

Anyway, one thing I've often noted is that the progression from Morrowind to Oblivion incurred a lot of stylistic changes, especially in weapons and armor. Whereas Morrowind's equipment relies heavily on texture details to the point of being totally garish, much of Oblivion's items were designed with a slightly more earthly, medieval approach. The three most iconic armor sets, and also the ones that have seen the most radical changes, are the dwarven, glass, and Daedric sets. I've seen lots of arguments in favor of each iteration, as well as mods for both games attempting to reproduce one or the other style.

For the record, I'm not necessarily implying that Skyrim's armor must be a carbon-copy of Morrowind or Oblivion's. Just, as far as the style goes, I was curious as to which ones people prefer. I'd rather people who have only played one of the two games not vote, or at least take a look at the images on the UESP to get an idea of what all the armor designs are like:

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Dwarven / http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Glass / http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Daedric
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:OB-item-Dwarven_Armor.jpg / http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:OB-item-Glass_Armor.jpg / http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:OB-item-Daedric_Armor.jpg

Personally, I greatly preferred Morrowind's approach to the glass and Daedric sets - they had a far more imposing look, and yet, there was far more attention to detail. The glass armor in Oblivion looks like it's hammered out of green apple Jolly Ranchers to me, and the Daedric set is just a bizarre, swirling mess of reds and browns. As far as Dwarven armor is concerned, I greatly preferred Oblivion's as I'm sure this is what the Dwemer actually wore. Although I'd prefer a helmet that made you look less like a steam engine. :ninja:

why dont they add two styles of the armor per type? i mean daedric armor in oblivion and mythic dawn armor both look cool and there both daedric but the mythic reminds me more of the daedric type from morrowind. it would be a cool idea then armor critics can get the best of both worlds.

It would be nice to have multiple styles, like what we saw among the Imperial armor sets in Morrowind. Don't count on it though.

yeah

oh look another poll that is a debate between Morrowind and Oblivion, I think I will choose Morrowind because everything about Oblivion was a mistake

By the way, your take on the issue just cracked a bit.

MW: Salvaged materials from Dwemer machinery and centurions (space marine) (65 votes [47.45%])
OB: Intricate brass-plated armor in the style of the Mesopotamians (72 votes [52.55%])

In fact, if you could answer me directly. Which of these two is more intricate? Which of these two sets is more unique? Which of these two do you prefer?

Neither. I'll leave it to Beth to figure out fresh ideas and designs :) But I want the most exotic ones be extremely hard to get (a full set of), be as ugly as they can be (daedric should be particularly scary) that gives a disposition penalty. The glass design in MW was just weird to me. I mean, I'd get stuck if I ever tried to fight in a wood wearing those spikes, or blead to death trying to put it on :P So despite looking ugly and scary, I think it should still look that something that could actually work. In a practical manner I mean.

Glass - Morrowind
Daedric - Morrowind
Dwemer - Oblivion

That gets my vote as well.

However, what I really want is the ability to die armor (and clothing) any color you like. That would go a long way in making your armor feel unique to your character.

I agree, I'd love to be able to dye armor and clothing.

I preffered the Morrowind style for Daedric and Glass, but I believe they should have both styles of Dwemer armors in Skyrim. The MW style armor being trophies of the wars against the Chimer/Dunmer and the OB style as the armor crafted by the Dwemer for trade before thier doom/imprisonment.

This was my assumption behind the different armor types in Morrowind and Oblivion. As Vvardenfell is technically a district of the empire and we already know that Ebonheart exports ebony and other commodities from the province, I figured that most of the real "treasures" from the Dwemer ruins had already been taken by the Imperials and wound up in Cyrodiil. Only scholars such as Hasphat Antabolist and Telvanni crazies would take interest in the remaining scrap metal and other trinkets. :P

Glass: Morrowind, these were gorgeous in MW, but weird in OB - especially the helmet.

Daedric: Oblivion, I actually like the OB's Daedric Armor, although I do think it should have slightly less red and more black, as in MW, but I prefer the shape used in OB.

Dwemer: Morrowind, honestly I hate how they look in either games but if I had too choose, I'd go with the MW version.

Glass: Morrowind
Daedric: Either is fine, though I appreciated how rare it was in Morrowind
Dwemer: Oblivion

The Morrowind Glass armor looked insane. It still is by far my favorite armor. Oblivion looked like an apple jolly rancher, to quote the person above. The lighting of Oblivion just added to this effect. Morrowind's was exotic and sharp(pun).

As for Dwarven, my vote goes to Oblivion. My butt looked massive in Morrowind and it looked like they took apart machines to make it. Dwarven machinery armor would have been a more suitable name.

Daedric? I'm actually split. Helmet goes to Morrowind's Daedric Face of God and DF of Terror. DF of Inspiration didn't appeal to me, and neither did Oblivion's. Pauldrons goes to Oblivion because Morrowind's were clunky and didn't feel vicious enough. I know pauldrons weren't in Oblivion, but I went with where they would be. Cuirass is a tie, Oblivion's does look just a bit more detailed, but that is because of the age difference. Greaves is the second most obvious to me. Morrowind wins the greaves because of those awesome bladed legs. Morrowind also wins boots and shield because they have spikes and faces. Finally, Morrowind wins gauntlets because they aren't big clunky things.
