Me too from the looks of that sword alone the glass looks like it will be waaaay better than it was in any previous game. No more radioactive green look, but a nice, subtle, jade or fluorite-like green, and it looks a bit translucent.
I'm not so convinced that's "Glass"
However, I do believe http://www.elderscrolls.com/skyrim/media/screenshots/orc-night/ shows Glass sword.
However, I hope we're both right, because that would potentially confirm something extraordinary, a huge diverse selection of weapons. An Orcish Glass longsword and an Elven Glass Longsword. Maybe an Ebony Tulwar(Redguard) and an Ebony Broadsword(Imperial), I don't want to jump on that optimism train, but here's hoping.
i honestly prefer Oblivion's, except for that helmet.
Can't remember if Morrowind had an equally unappealing helmet.
It was better, but when you polish a turd?
It's not supposed to be glass like in you living room window you know? It's a magical volcanic material that's supposedly stronger than steel and stuff, it just so happens to be called glass. On a side note glass was not the best choice of name for a strong material lol
The properties of Morrowind's glass, as used for Light armor, is ablative in function. Where something like a Heavy steel cuirass would absorb the blow, the glass is designed to "Break off" (Ablate) and direct that energy away from the body. This is why I think the properties of Glass Light armor should have an incredible DT but very Low durability, which is pretty much how it works in Morrowind. It can protect you from one or two very powerful blows, but after that, it loses it's structural integrity.
Glass weapons were also done well in Morrowind, though they should have had overall higher base damage (Instead of 1). Hoping to see in Skyrim, Glass weapons being brittle, but carrying a huge bonus to critical chance, compared to it's heavy-material counterpart, Ebony. The choice material for assassins and ambushers alike.
