Glass Models

Post » Tue Jun 22, 2010 6:09 am

Hi. I have two questions. Both of them are opinions unless your 100% sure.

First question.

What model of Glass did you like? Morrowind's or Oblivion's? I preferred Oblivion's by 1000%. Does anyone know what style it is going to be?

Second Question.

People say there is going to be Xbox 720 or something like that? Should Beth make Skyrim compatible?

Oblivions glass models and the 720 rumor was just that. A rumor. Pete said on twitter that he's "not buying it."

Preferred MW's Glass armor, but OB's weapons. The green works better as a highlight than as the primary element on armor imo, OB's looks really gaudy.

And the 720 isn't going to come out until 2013 at the earliest, so it's slightly crazy to expect Skyrim to be made for it.

Even if they do release a new gen XBox...the game is coming out for 360 and you really don't see a lot of developers taking the time to remodel the games for higher up gens...

As far as glass....my truest and biggest hope for it is that they change the helms...Glass is undoubtedly my favorite armor class but the "goggles" thing gets me everytime....

I liked Oblivion's glass, minus the dorky helmet and the hideous color.

I preferred vvardenfell style over cyrodiil style glass for both armor and weapons. Just like the more raw rugged look. Fit the setting well too.
I dunno I found oblivion's to be too...something. Not quite sure why I didn't dig it especially since glass was my fav, the color was probably a factor though

I actually liked Oblivion's Glass armor better. It's weird, the only thing wrong with Oblivion's glass armor, was it was too green. But Morrowind's glass armor just doesn't look right, like it seems more like Heavy Armor than Light armor, at least Oblivion's looked constructed for flexibility (Though maybe too rigid to be light, but the same could be said about the Elven too).

I'm not sure how Glass can look right as a light armor. My guess would be as a reinforcement on points that don't need to be flexible. Chest, shins, forearms. that sort of thing, against a mail or dreugh leather jerkin.

More importantly though, I hope Daedric armor doesn't look like rubber highlighted with some red. Morrowind's Daedric looked imposing, heavy and thoughtfully constructed, with it's trademark wave-ridge design.

I don't think it's going to be either style. Just look at the screenshot with the elven glass sword to see what I mean.

But anyway, Morrowind's glass armor was way better imo. Especially the helmet. A retainer and a pair of suspenders would go pretty well with Oblivion's glass helmet.

And I'm guessing http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4lrm97dBqNo/TUFlwb82vlI/AAAAAAAAAYs/J3KOH-Y0YDM/s1600/artofskyrim_008_elvenfemhalberd.jpg is going to be the female version of the elven glass armor.

I don't really care for light armor so I can't really pick.

I don't care for either. Looking like a power ranger wannabe traffic light is not my idea of fashion. Or function for that matter.

Looks Elven to me.

What's the green stuff on it? Besides, we've already seen the elven armor, it looks nothing like that concept art:

http://cdnstatic.gamesas.com/akqacms/files/tes/screenshots/Cave01_wLegal.jpg
http://cdnstatic.gamesas.com/akqacms/files/tes/screenshots/IceWraiths_wLegal.jpg

And as I said, that concept art probably shows the elven glass armor. It's confirmed that there will be an "elven glass" sword (probably the green sword with an elven shape from those screenshots), so there could be a set of "elven glass" armor.

Beyond the chamber we're rewarded with treasure, including a soul gem, which is relevant for enchanting - buffing items, effectively. There's also an Elven glass sword and a Frost Rune. The Frost Rune can be used to create a sort of proximity bomb on the ground, which is bad news for any enemies who wander over it. Later on we also find a Staff of Magelight, which fires little balls of light into the darkness. You can dual-wield staffs. (Hubba.)

I'm pretty sure there were other articles that called it an "elven glass sword" too. But I can't think of anything else http://cdnstatic.gamesas.com/akqacms/files/tes/screenshots/IceWraiths_wLegal.jpg could be. It's green, translucent, and shaped like Oblivion's elven sword. Besides, I think it's pretty likely that the cave mentioned from the demo is the same cave shown in the trailer - the articles mentioned a long hallway with water running down it, a "staff of magelight," and an "elven glass sword." If you watch the trailer you'll see a scene that fits this description perfectly.

Me too from the looks of that sword alone the glass looks like it will be waaaay better than it was in any previous game. No more radioactive green look, but a nice, subtle, jade or fluorite-like green, and it looks a bit translucent.

All I'm hoping for is that glass armor won't be so gaudy in skyrim, that green colour really put me off... looked more like star wars rather than the medieval theme they are trying to portray...it needs to be more subtle

I hope they give the glass armor a more blown look, it's probably created and shaped in a really hot furnace and carefully stroked into shape given that it's a form of glass.

it'd be full of sloping contours and sharp points due to it's construction, and that'd look amazing in armor.

I preferred Morrowind's armor. The Oblivion helmet (the helmet design in Oblivion was terrible in most cases imo) made you look like a chicken, the rest of the armor looked ok, but pretty generic.

For the armor, I definitely liked Morrowind's design better, for the weapons, though, I'm pretty neutral, both games are nice. But as far as Skyrim goes, it doesn't matter too much, because Bethesda will probably do a different style. In fact, if speculation about a weapon we've seen in the trailer and screenshots is to be believed, we've already gotten a look at what Skyrim's glass weapons are like.

All glass weapons and armor are elven made...

And I liked Oblivion's armor better, because it actually looked like glass armor rather than ebony armor studded with glass...

if you're talking making it compatible to play on the 720, that's all xbox not the game developers. Xbox has to put in the software to make the system read old disks from 360, or make them the same way to it can read it.

Well between
Morrowind
http://www.uesp.net/morrow/hints/images/ar_glass.jpg
and
Oblivion
http://myoblivion.co.uk/r_glass.jpg

I prefer morrowind glass design but Sktrim will have own design of armor and I hope it will really good, from other side maybe LHammonds will allow port his armor to Skyrim?
