Only place I wouldn't mind finding them in Skyrim is in a Dwemer ruin. Otherwise, glasses don't fit in the TES world.

Well... Monocles and "modern glasses" are a no for me. But I must say, the Dwemer Spectacles mod was one of my favorites as it completed my Redguard's desert nomad look, so I'd like to see that.

Exactly. People with magic don't need glasses.

I guess that the answer is an overwhelming "no".

If ever you ask yourself this in the TES world, the Dwemer could have. If they could invent airships, they could invent glasses.

Besides, although not corrective lenses, the Chitin and Netch helms from Morrowind had goggles.

On topic: lorewise it doesn't make much sense, however there are some cool OB mods that give you glasses so I'm sure Skyrim will have them :)

The going rate for Nord dentists is extortionate; you'd better make sure that your insurance policy covers it. But I find that a drunken orc with a warhammer works equally well.

If I see anybody wearing glasses in Skyrim I'm going to punch then in the face. Just to make a point as their glasses shatter in their eyes and then say, "See that's why you don't wear glasses here. Too dangerous."

First "glasses" were probably around the 12-13 centuries on Earth.

My personal concept of the relative time of Skyrim, as compared to Earth's history is from ~500-1200.

With differing technologies, I have no idea, but it may have been possible on Nirn to have glasses in the time of Skyrim.

Just a guess, however,

Well all items thats will make NPC more unique will be good: eye-patches, masks, circlets and other include Glasses can be done if not by Devs then modders, besides thats not modern ones and Glasses have long history
The first eye glasses (spectacles) appeared around 1286. By the 14th century they were available across north-west Europe.
The glasses were formed from two convex shaped glass/crystal stones, each surrounded by a frame with handle. The handles were then connected together by a rivet. Production started in Florence then the Low Countries. Manufacture in England began in the 15th century. Artisans, glassmakers, jewelers, clockmakers, monks and scientists all helped refine their development. More
The original inventor is unknown but early eye glasses were made by adapting an earlier invention, - the glass stone magnifier, essentially by joined two of these together. They were first developed in Pisa, Italy. The earliest reference is in a sermon by a monk called Giordano (Feb.23, 1306), he said: "It is not yet twenty years since there was found the art of making eyeglasses which make for good vision. By the time the printing press was invesnted (around 1450), glasses were already used by artisans, monks and other religious scholars. Once books became more widely available the demand for eye glasses rose dramatically. By the end of the 15th century, spectacle peddlers (street sellers) were a common sight in Western Europe.

I would see why not. They are not a particularly new invention. I know Nirn and the real world are completely different places, however, as they are not a new invention. I can't see what would prevent them from inventing glasses.

I also have my doubts that there are enough skilled healers that could completely solve the issue so that glasses would be obsolete. As although magic is rather common, (an argument that pops up in most non-magic technology threads) I find it rather unpersuasive as we would be seeing a lot less swords and bows if that was true.

Also, even if you don't agree with these arguments. You have to admit that if you play as a wizard. You have to have your glasses. All the greats wear glasses: Merlin, Harry Potter, Dumbledore, ect. . . .

To protect the eyes in the middle of blizzards. Think Snow goggles rarther than glasses with correctional lenses in them.

I also loved the Dwemner Glasses mod, I even had the pair on my head and the ones over my eyes (enchanted with nighteye) hotkeyed so I could simulate pulling them down.
