I advance the main quest to the point where you capture Odahviing, and release him.

The next leg of the quest requires that I speak to him to fly to Skuldafn. When I speak to him, he responds with "ready to fly to Skuldafn?", but I get no option to continue the conversation, and thereby cannot travel to Skuldafn.

I've tried reloading the game, waiting, sleeping, travelling away and back again, etc...no luck, the same glitch persists.

Anyone know of a fix?

Did you wait for him to walk to the end of the patio?

He would not let me fly until he got there.

The first time i did that quest and released him, he went mental and started killing every one in the room.

Oh yes, I even tried fast-travelling to different places, and calling him from there. Wherever I found him, I could speak to him, he'd ask if I were ready to fly, and I'd have no way of replying 'yes'.

I had the bug where he would not stop attacking -- not only couldn't I talk to him, he was trying to claw me to death as I attempted to speak. I had to use the console ('stopcombat') to force him to not attack -- and after that had the same problem as you're having.

For me it was just positioning. Unless he's standing all the way out on the ledge, and you're standing out on the ledge right next to him, he won't offer to fly you away. Took me about 5 minutes to find the right spot to stand in, since he seemed to wait for me to lead him to it.

I play on xbox and I'm having a similar problem except he won't even speak to me after I hav trapped him. I've tried everything even loading a save from 2 hours earlier and replaying to this point. I cannot progress the main story past this. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this please

i had a similar bug when releasing him. When i released him he started attacking everyone! Well I should say the guard released him. I decided to reload and run up and pull the chain myself instead of letting the guard do it. That worked. Try that.
