Too close to BioShock and Fable for my liking.

Not sure why everyone wants to start cramming elements from (inferior) games into the Elder Scrolls series. The logic of "doing something because someone else does it" is lost on me.

Off Topic: Macharius, sick avatar. Lucius Vorenus is badass.

That's kinda gross.

I don't know whether I would want this implemented in the game or not, but can I just ask... what's so gross about it?

that would have mean that magic would have been related to genetic which would be weird.

I'd like spells to look more subtle. Instead of the sparkly dusty swirly bright BS in the last two games, way too dramatic, magic isn't dramatic, it's subtle.

Well, it does depend on race. Your starting Magicka reserves, that is.

That I do agree with. Though more powerful spells should have more of a visual effect, imo.

So it's in the sunlight and air, like Prana? If that's the case, then wouldn't it be breathed into the body and absorbed by the bloodstream for later use (via the Magicka bar)? Am I missing something?

As for the vein glowing being "gross," I fail to see how it's any worse than traditional blood and gore.

The holes in the sky (stars and sun) just allow the magic to flow from that realm to theirs. Just allowing access is all.

The allowing access I get, but how is it actually harnessed? The fact that your character has Magicka reserves implies that it's taken into the body somehow. As for how it's increased by Intelligence, I'm not sure; perhaps it allows one to be less wasteful with their internal Magicka supply? Sorry, I tend to overthink these things.

It would be neat to see your veins glow different colors depending on the spells that are being cast for example: illusion spells wich usually cause green stuff to fly out of your hands would cause the veins in your wrists near the hand to glow a feint green, but only when that spell is cast. The amount of glow for each could depend on your skill in that school of magic 70 pts into restoration would give you a halo of light from your hand. It worked well in bioshock, and they are adapting some of the combat from that game why not add that aswell, it seems completly viable and would be a nifty thing to see. Also a toggle on/off for it in the options menu. Anyone else agree?

No this isn't dragon age 2 ( Fenris).

I like this idea. Either glowing veins or a magical aura...both sound neat. And now I actually hope this gets modded in at some point.

You're fine dude haha. The meter and attributes are there simply because it's a game and they have to have gameplay functions for things like that you know? Think of it in the same light as the health or fatigue meter.

Instead of fireballs I'd like to see more of a blast of fire, or lightning spells, if they hit, cause the area around them to zap them. I'd like to see a more scientific approach to how the spells work. Like attracting the elements to the target or causing them to backfire. I dunno, after I saw avatar (the last airbender) I got a whole new outlook on elemental magic. I can no longer accept things just coming out of nowhere, and using martial arts to project energies just make sense, to me.

I'm not one for going against lore or anything, but you people are just arguing semantics at this point, not lore.
Having this type of feature would not go against lore at all. Yes, magical powers are gained through the stars, but that power could manifest inside you and be let out. If you can summon it outside of your body, why not inside?
See? Easy ways to get around this so called "lore" you people are talking about. Pure semantics.
Just because "aww mah god guis it remind$ me of F@ble!11" doesn't mean it wouldn't be pretty cool.

from seeing pictures and how they said they got the inspiration for the current magic system from working on bioshock it looks like it has a bioshockish look when you equip a spell to a hand, like the hand for your fire spell has a small flame kindling inside your palm, and i'd assume frost spells have a cold fog around your hand and electric has arcs of electricity sporadically jumping around your hand, purely speculation of course.

Didn't like this in Bioshock, would hate it in an ES game with no precedent for such things.

Here's some reference to what wielded magic looks like right now.

Personally I don't like the glowing veins thing. I would prefer to have an aura around may hand rather than it looking like my character has injected himself with some glowing liquid.

I like the idea that it could flow around your arms instead of inside them. That is kinda weird. Especially for an Elder Scrolls. I know they're taking inspiration from Bioshock and all, but I really hope they don't do that. But around them and around your body would be kinda cool too. Different colours and patterns to signify different effects.
