Glowing weapons

Post » Sun Jan 23, 2011 6:33 am

So I was wrong then when I said earlier that the last time I had seen a buffed gun was in the CC footage. You're right, that's not bad at all. They really have toned it down quite a bit. Looks pretty cool now, actually. I like it. :disguise:

Yeah, it's actually not as vibrant and the glowing pulse is a lot slower. I don't see too many problems with that.

without a mic, there is no communication, which effects proper teamwork mechanics and after all this a team based objective mode game. unless you join a deaf clan or something.

i find it pretty silly people can buy a $65 dollar game but can't afford a mic. gl with mind reading.

It's not just money. Sometimes we don't want to disturb neighbors, roomates, [sleeping] family members, friends, the noisy dog, etc, lol.
(Also, off-topic for me, it would look sometimes weird and make me feel uncomfortable to verbally talk to strangers on my TV while online. I'm one of those shy people
who prefer text over talking verbally, since I am not good at articulating orally, and if I do orally talk to people, I'd rather do it face to face in real life
[which is why I'm also not a phone person at all].)

and youre all going on old footage,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_CykYOy6Lw at 5:00 minutes hes buffed his shotgun, that it the most recent gameplay to date, and its not bad at all.

Huh. It doesn't look bad in that video. It looks like they may be lowering the glow somewhat, I guess? I hope so. :)

Well, itll do. Its certainly not as blinding as it was before so I'll be happy with what they got there. Not the best but better than it was.

That would be a reply of someone who has nothing to comeback with. I pose a completely logical and factual position and you come back with that. Honestly...

nope, if you dont like brink, go play something else when it comes out, no hair off my back, also i posted more up to date footage, if you want to find more things to [censored] about

And as I said far earlier...Its not that I don't like brink, but I do find some things concerning. I'm not some sheep that explodes with excitement everything a dev speaks like most prelaunch communities are. I take things as I see them. And I giant glowing gun didnt sit right with me.

Also, I despise Cod as much as most of you do if not more. So telling me to go play it is pretty ineffective. If anything I'll just go back to the one good game currently out there Battlefield.

I'm sure if the golden gun effect is too distracting or w/e they can simply change it very easy, swap it out for a little icon or something

i'd rather maybe only a part of the gun glow, like the magazine or barrel maybe

also things tend to look at least a little different in a 720p vid on your desktop running off youtube as they will on all of our big overly expensive HD LED/LCDs so it might not be so bad

course if you play on PC then well.......um.......SOL i guess...............at least your game is cheaper :)

... So me and Zero are just going to yell at you through the TV on our mics while you send us Text-Chat messages, getting killed every time you pause the game? Its not like Teamwork will take a serious hit or anything... :P

I kid. Although you not having a Mic is a little disappointing, we can deal.

Lol! :D I'll just be your [somewhat, since devs put in some voices] mute-ish tagalong friend/sidekick/mascot-thing, heh.
Good thing the devs put in some generic phrases voiced out in the game, lol. "Help meeeeeeeeee, I'm dyinnnnnnnnggggg.....---oh, wait, never mind, I can revive myself, lol!"
(Oh, forgot my dude would also "talk" during cutscenes, too, lol :D ).

On-topic: I think, looking closely at that recent video, that the buff glowing is now not that bad at all. I can see the gun's color still and it's not too noticeable. ^_^

Silly argument. The system is there to play games, it makes more sense to spend the $65 to buy a game to play than to buy a mic at any given time. I'd rather have something to do and no way to talk to people than a way to talk but nothing to talk about.

Hope you won't actually be yelling, I hate when people think that just because somebody isn't talking that they can't hear :P

And it never caused a problem for http://starsmedia.ign.com/stars/image/article/861/861423/gi-joe-rise-of-cobra-snake-eyes_1245275102.jpg

I never had a mic prior to my PS3 and don't use it much now (my dog chewed up a bit anyways) because of other sounds on my end, but still manage very solid teamwork. The only major drawback I've ever seen from not having a mic (unless you're the leader) is not being able to yell "look out" sometimes.

EDIT: On topic, I don't care for anything glowing on my screen or on my person on someone else's screen.

Yeah, the not being able to say "look out!" is the biggest thing I think would be a bit of a problem in multiplayer.
Because---I have to say this----"knowing is half the battle!" (Don't ask me what the other half is.) ;)

EDIT: Wait, wait, I'll have to rewatch the videos again, but I guess that both your character AND the gun will be glowing (from a distance)..... so you are one giant, glowing silhouette molded with the glowing gun, lol? It's like a walking, radioactive hazard? :D

Maybe they should have a small area on the bottom right of the screen that could show current buffs.

It seems kind of pointless having your gun glow. Why would you need to be constantly aware that your gun has been buffed? If you've seen it in gameplay, it's annoying as all hell.

Did'nt bother reading anything but the OP :3

Anywho, i would want to know my gun is buffed, i don't see how your gun is glowing would be annoying, unless you are very irritable, but there should be an option to turn it off, and im pretty sure buffs don't last forever so i would like to know if my gun is packing some extra damage or not.
