God mode.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but with no level cap won't we be able to get all of our SPECIAL stats up to 10 and eventually earn every single perk? I really like the idea of creating a particular type of character and not having someone that can do every single thing optimally. However, it seems like we'll be able to maximize our character and create a god-like wanderer.

Hopefully its balanced and we will see improvements the last games didn't have. I like the idea of god tier as long as we can use those abilities against god tier enemies.

Sure, but it'll take at least 270 levels, by which point you will surely have run out of meaningful content. Are you really gonna play that long on a single character?

Yeah, if ya willing to slog through leveling 200+ levels, which I think only the really dedicated min/max nerds gonna do, otherwise its up to you to choose when its time to call it quits really.

If you want to get up to about level 270 to max out everything, then go for it. That is far too much work for most people since it is doubtful that most people will get past level 100 before they get to the end.

0.0 Well, have fun with god mode then, I guess. Most people won't make it that far.

Actually there are over a hundred perk books in the game that give free perks or perk upgrades and it is expected the SPECIAL bobbleheads do the same thing they did the last time around.....plus you don't need nearly all perks to be a god....just a good combo of say 10 perks max all topped off and you're set. I think that yes....we're in to play as gods in Fallout 4 but that's how it should be.....enemies die because you will it not because you have to fight them much....that's how all games should be.

I'm getting the strategy guide for this purpose exactly.....we start with 28 SPECIAL points out of a max 70 and then 7 bobbleheads are likely to bring that to 35 so a total of 35 levelups will be needed to round a perfect 10 but key to that likewise will also be hunting down the perk books from early on to compensate for choosing SPECIAL over perk. But I don't think I need all 7 SPECIAL maxed to be a god.....I think I need about 4 close to maxed with say around a 5 in the others so around 55 total points in SPECIAL should do it which means 20 of my level-up points.....I expect to be godly by level 30 all things considered.

The books give their own perks, not ones on the chart. (Grognak, for instance - 10 issues, each giving a rank of Barbarian perk. If I remember the name correctly.)

You cant expect BGS or any other company to balance a game around people who will grind for 200 hours.

Its likely in normal 40-50 hour playthroughs you will not reach half the potential perks.

But to be honest if i invest 100+ hours and focus on becoming a killing machine i expect to be one.

Keep in mind the books give there own unique perks, not perk points you can spend on the main chart.

Mods, mods, and more mods. That will keep me playing this game for years. Finish it? Hahaha....right.
As far as god mode goes, I have certain strategies I use in Bethesda games to make sure that doesn't happen.

No grinding, just playing for many, many hours.

I have probably logged 1,500 to 2,000 hours into Skyrim by this point. And I've had characters with 300-400 hours on them if not more. My nerd level runs deep. Very deep.

But they won't allow you to unlock doors or hack pc's, or make better weapon mods, or sneak more effectively etc.

Sure but that's what the regular perks are for.....it's only three or four that allow you to access places so not a whole lot.

Yes. "Some grant an individual perk, while others level up the rank of the Perk associated with that magazine"

So, the first Grognak you read gives you the Barbarian perk ("grants you an individual perk"), and further issues increase the Perk's rank ("up the rank of a Perk associated with that magazine" - in Grognak's case, the associated perk is Barbarian).

Eh. Maybe that's what that means. I take it to mean that some magazines just auto-grant you perks from the perk chart. I hope I'm wrong, though.

Ah, I thought I wasn't crazy. Can't wait to study the Strategy guide at midnight on November 10 and chart my way to godhood right off the bat. Likely boot the game 1st time around 0100 or 0200 in the morning. No doubt a magazine with a NOOB skill or two will be in the starting Vault.....probably VANS lol. You can't not have access to that perk accessible as it requires a 1 in perception and you can't drop it to zero.

That really doesn't seem like it would work, given that the chart perks have both SPECIAL requirements (to get the first rank), and level requirements (for the later ranks). Having a magazine or bobblehead just jump over that requirement wouldn't make sense.

True but there could be a system to where you can't use a magazine until you have a high enough stat in the required SPECIAL.....too easy to get a message saying "Your Intelligence/Strength/whatever isn't high enough to learn the skill this magazine teaches, try again later".

I would consider the Grognak perks to be different from the individual perk magazines. It doesn't matter what Grognak magazine you get first, it will still grant the first perk. Some magazine perks only have one level while some go up to 10 levels.

Pretty sure it would take well more than 200-300 hours to max out the perk chart - that's very roughly a perk an hour, which is ridiculously fast after like level 10. They've said that the leveling speed is comparable to Skyrim, which slows down significantly after you get into the 40s.

Bethesda said they designed the game so that we level up much faster......early levels are unlikely to be more than half hour apart and higher levels aren't likely to be as inaccessible as they were in 3 an NV......I don't think they are even trying to implement any kind of soft level XP cap where it starts taking forever.....from what they said it sounds like they absolutely intend us to actually no-crap keep leveling as long as we keep playing.
