Is going around unarmored now pointless?

There's no need to stop people going magic+armor. It's just whether (1) no armor is underpowered (as some posters say) or (2) armor is overpowered (as other posters say)

If you are not leveling armor, then you can have a different skill and all the perks to spend in it. It won't be on "Unarmored" so you have to think of a different way but I'm sure defense is possible by other means than a suit of armor. I doubt any class is super-powered, but if other people want to use an overpowered combination then so what? It will never be as cheesy as say 100% Chameleon I guarantee.

From what I hear there is a hard cap of 50 perks, so that forces a choice. And I think some perks will require a high level of skill. As for adding skills, you will eventually be able to get to 100 in everything if you play for a long long time, but in the early and mid game, leveling one skill means less points in another skill. It could be the difference between level 100 Destruction or level 50 Destruction and level 50 Light Armor.

The perk cap equals the level cap assuming you get 1 perkpoint/level so 70+'ish though it'll go (a lot) slower after 50.

And it's not about putting points in perks, it's more the fact that you get an extra layer of defense for little to no cost, but we'll see what happens on 11/11/11

Heavy armor
- it's heavy; I need space for potions, scrolls, and gems.
- it's slow; I need to be able to make quick escapes.
- it likely reduces sprint duration; that wouldn't be good.

Light armor
- my magic is better
- more room, slightly faster

Well what about perks that reduce the negative effects Revolver?
Sorry all my perks are going to illusion and other magics, can't be wasting them on making armor fit into my Mage class.

Plus, if your getting smacked around as a pure Mage, your not using them correctly.

" it's more the fact that you get an extra layer of defense for little to no cost,"

Because they want it to be a valid option to whare armor and use magic because not everyone would be comfortable without armor. Haveing lesser penalties is to make it less difficult for these players and you want them to suffer just so you can walk aroung without protection is not an argument, it is an invitation for insult which is why this thread is receaving so much flack.

It's definitely not "no cost". As for how little the cost is, that depends on what you want to do with your character. Especially earlier in the game it will cost you points in other skills. At the end of the game, maybe you can learn to do everything, but at best you will have a third of the perks and have to decide where they go.

He said "little to no cost", not "no cost".Movement speed isn't going to hinder a mage by much, and perk limits aren't going to stop players from being overpowered when using heavy armor and magic together.

Really, now.

wow I was ignored to continue on a pointless debate

let me say it again

like in MW cloths will have a much higher enchanting potential (can hold more powerful enchants) thus playing a cloth wearing character will pay off big time eventually.
