[Idea] Going back / Forward in time

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 5:57 pm

So I had this idea about a time-travel quest/dungeon based on important events in TES/Morrowind lore that happend in the past, or have yet to occur. This would be very similar to the Caverns of Time concept in World of Warcraft, where the player is sent back into time to witness important events.

Some concepts I have in mind would be (I'm no expert, so please correct me where I'm wrong!):

-Dagoth Ur being assigned to guard the Heart in Red Mountain by Nerevar (or was it the tribunal?)
-The murder of Nerevar by the Tribunal
-The battle for Ald'Ruhn during the Oblivion Crisis and the retreat to Ghostgate

Now I don't know if time travel is lore friendly in TES, but I believe this would be a nice way to portrait some important events of Morrowind in the game. Maybe the player simply gets a vision about the past/future of Vvardenfell while he is dreaming (Dagoth Ur playing tricks on him, showing him how he was betrayed and what will happen should he not ally with Dagoth)
What are your thoughts about this?

If it was like the Caverns of Time in that you get be the person (for example, you could peer into the water and play as Dagoth Ur), that'd be as lore accurate as you can get with this concept. If you were the person him/herself who timetravelled then that's quite a bit of a stretch.

Personally, I think the team that's recreating the Arena dungeons, story, and basic towns have a great idea going there. It's a very simple, but interesting story that many people don't know about.

This is a very good idea and may become good if done properly and lore-accurate.

I believe the best way to do this lore-correctly is something along these lines:

Dagoth Ur invades your dreams during the main quest. He shows you a dream of his past, where he is given the task to guard the Heart, and how the Tribunal used it. During this vision he gives his speech about how he's the good guy in all this, etc. He tries to persuade/trick you into joining the 6th House, like he usually does.

As long as it's fun and interesting with solid writing, personally I wouldn't worry about it being a slave to the lore.
