because everything u listed is jus added to the original gameplay mech, none of them are new mech. that replace old ones from FO3s mech other than DT

Definately. If you have a PC version there are tons of mods for FO3 and if you mod it well, FNV vanilla is like "zero", compared to it. If you don't FO3 is still worth playing.

I'm probably in the minority when I say mods added vey little to the overall appeal of the game - all the nice (and well made) features they added didn't last too long before the core game bared it's teeth again.

They are both good games, but they are different styles.

FO:NV is all about the complex quest interaction between the opposing factions.

FO3 is all about exploring the wide open world. Yes, there are quests, but they're really just something to do in that world. FO3 also feels alot more "post-apocalypse" since civilization in that area is less recovered and there's alot more major ruins all over.

Beyond that.... well, FO:NV's game mechanics are a bit better, since they were tweaked from FO3's. So in that sense, FO3 will be a bit of a step back.

But it's still a good game. :)

Maybe you need to look into it a bit further, or dl the right ones (i can send you my list if you want), i have like 7gb of mods for fo3 and most are compressed =p
On a sidenote, when installing mods you have to be carefull and install few at a time in order not to experience crashes etc.

Tried quite a few (MMMF3, FOOK 1&2, Arwens..., the NMC terrainpack, DarnUI, Fellout, Greenworld, Existence 2.0, etc. etc.). It was fun to explore the new features they added for a while, but in the end the game didn't improve much because there's only so much a mod can do.

But you still can't deny that the gameplay feels superior as I have said. Sure, the clunky F3 core remains, but Obsidians introduced a lot of new features, so that's a big step up from the old one for me.

In the end, it's just a subjective matter it seems.

Honestly I would just miss Iron sites way to much to go back. I feel like fallout 3 would would a bit more empty (less populated) as well. But fallout 3 is one hell of a game and I say go for it

F3 is in it's own way a great game. Not only should you play/purchase it, but you should also get your hands on F1 and F2. Both great games. They will also help you in understanding the lore and backstory of the Fallout world.

I would say definitely. While I like New Vegas a lot and think it's a great game, with some great improvements, I miss rambling around the DC Wasteland. Also, I think the downtown DC area of Fallout 3 with it's underground metro and never knowing where you're going to pop up and it's shear vastness is way better than New Vegas. Fallout 3 just feels more explorey to me than FNV.

my opinion, dont buy F3 yet, finish NV first. because after you play F3 i am pretty sure, you will have no interest of playing NV.

I agree. I'm one of the minority who still prefers Fallout 3. Even though I like the companions better in FNV, I prefer the vastness of the DC wasteland. Plus I like my house in Megaton way better than my suite in the Lucky 38 because I can redecorate. :)

Sure.

Get the GOTY edition for PC and add the FWE mod (and Fellout if you like blue skies). It's still a fun game. The story isn't as tight, but there's lot to explore.

Of course, the two are very similar but you will miss a few mechanics from NV.

Fallout 3 is a great exploration game but once you have explored the map there isn't much replay value, imho anyway. FO 3 is actually harder at the start since there are very few weapon options and almost all of them will not be available until later. Oh, weapons degrade a lot faster in FO3 so the weightless ammo is countered by having to pack around 5 of the same weapon. Do not expect to be able to snipe worth a damn without VATS. Crafting in FO3 is used to fill in gaps in the weapon selection instead of accenting the weapons. By level 17 you may find your self with 100 in all skills and by 30 it will be hard not to have max skills.

Well... I should not spoil it so much, but FO 3 has a lot of quirky and fun places to see and experience!

Both games are brilliant. FNV has more side quests and a lot of mechanics / character improvements. On the other hand, FO3 actually feels like a hard wasteland, and the explosives weapons are more satisfying and the world feels more open and wild. I slightly, slightly prefer FO3 (and I'm an old Fallout 1 and 2 original fan).

But both are brilliant and fun.

So yes, absolutely!

Given how individual bugs are, I'd hardly recommend F3 (which is regarded as a game that is pretty buggy on its own anyways) based on that. For example, I crash regularly in F3 and have done so across three systems that I've put together for some reason. New Vegas has been very smooth for me in that regard.

But I'd say it depends on what you enjoyed the most in New Vegas. Many people think F3 did better on the exploration (I don't agree personally) so that may be worth looking into. But you're gonna miss some of the features NV brought to the table, and the freedom when it came to solving quests and who you want to support or not.

One thing about these games is that if you enjoy the content, they're nice investments given how much there is to see in them.

Oh, another thing I wanted to say about Fallout 3 is...you know how small The Strip is and how chopped up it is? When you get to the Mall in DC you will be so happy. Also when you are doing a quest or trying to get somewhere it seems like there are more obstacles (mutants, ghouls, Raiders, ants, roaches, Mirelurks, whatever) in your path and therefore more chances to shoot stuff. And running through the Wasteland is smoother. At least it is for me on the PS3. With FNV it seems like my person stops every few seconds. Hopefully that will be fixed with a patch though.

Look, the bottom line is both games are wonderful and have something different to offer. So go ahead and get Fallout 3 and play it. It's got some really cool stuff in it. You won't be disappointed. It wasn't named Game of the Year for nothing. :)
