Is C2 going to be a cursing game?

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 9:04 pm

The Prophet's Journey trailer was cool but there was a lot of unnecessary cursing. I don't mind a little here an there but when its all the time like that it gets really annoying. It sounds like those twelve year old kids crying about getting shot in Call of Duty. I just want to hurt people like that.

Am I the only one that thinks it was a little much?

Considering the amount of whining about it in the trailer's thread, obviously not.

I agree. They seriously need to implement a foul language filter.

I see no problem with it. Its a war. Against aliens. Its also an M rated game. I see no problem here.

A filter would be very considerite for those with younger siblings.

I don't mind it much as long as it isnt overused or out of context.

If you knew what I did to your mom last night, you'd curse a lot more than the people in the trailer (she was cursing a lot too but in the best way possible).

yeah this kind of reminds me of killzone 2. there is a crapload of swearing but you dont mind it at first but a while after you just feel annoyed. i mean, thats all they seem to have in their vocabulary. every once in a while is good because it expresses their anger more but if you have the game swear every other minute it pulls the "emotion" out of the game and you just feel "flat" the whole game through.

(this is compared to music; if you keep the dynamics the same the whole way through the audience will get bored but if you change the dynamics its more likely that they wont get bored... just my two cents)

Crysis 1 did a great job with realistic swearing, and they didnt spam us.

I was a bit thrown back by the cursing used in the trailers, but then I looked at the beginning of the trailer. HELLOOOO!!! ITS A 18+/M GAME! USE YOUR HEADPHONES!

seriously, you have to put in an age of 18+ to watch most of the trailers anyway.

It's a game, you have the option to not play it if you're offended by certain words. Honestly people, just deal with it.

arbitrary moral construct... non-issue

unless it makes the characters seem dumb, thus compromising the character design/personality or narrative in some way, then it's not really an issue

Would you talk nice and watch your language when your city is getting attacked by aliens?

People who've played the leak could tell you that there isn't any unnecessary swearing....

When I played the multiplayer demo on 360 the amount of automatic-character-swearing was hilarious XD
But the voice acting was good, and it felt like they were swearing for a reason each time. Not just randomly spamming out an F each time a bullet hit them.

It's M for Mature.
Mature really means fully developed in body or mind, as in the quality of a persons fully developed mature nature. Obviously and unfortunately Crysis 2 lacks this quality in certain dialogue.

It is designed to appeal to the teenage delinquent.

In my country (finland) M rated games are usually rated here +16 and that means everybody can buy it because only selling +18 is against the law

I can honestly say if an Alien invasion was actually happening and there was a war going on in the streets of mahattan Island, its safe to say you would be dropping the F-bomb like it was going out of fashion and thats even if you werent in the thick of it.
