Going Dark Early - Information Fast

It all depends on whether or not you will get more out of the game by abstaining. Building hype can also get you uber excited.

I want info and screen shots and game play. But I dont want to know anything about the story. Hell I didnt even want to know who the bad guy is. But thats kinda spoilt as soon as the first teaser came out. As you can guess the whoel story now. I dont want to know anything mroe about the story. Just the gameplay and graphics. I dont even want to know what monsters there will be.

For the E3 Demo for Oblivion they completely gave away the entire start to the game and the story.

Once I see some gameplay footage and a screenshot or two of the Khajiits I think I could hold off until realize.

But right now, I'm a total sponge.

I'll be right here soaking up information by osmosis as I mop up and clean up and search for enough trolls to feed our server.

I definitely plan on "going dark" at some point. Probably after the first time I see the game in motion. I could go for some screens, and then just a short gameplay vid, then that's it. I thought way too much was revealed for Oblivion, and it did kind of spoil it.

I'm so into the entire new engine deal I will surely watch out for updates. I'm not hyping the game up myself, but I would learn anything there it to learn about it.

I would love to go dark but I will be here like a little Skyrim sponge svcking up every little droplet of moisture for at least five or six more months. After that, I'll try to stay out of this section of the forums, try to avoid videos and articles, try to avoid people who need to tell me the latest OMG thing they've heard. I will fail miserably and come sulking back here with the rest of my spongy friends.

No I won't go dark, I just can't control myself :P When the game ships, I'll monitor for a few days about problems, DRM controversies, hardware requirements and incompatibilities and that sort of thing. But try very hard to be let in on any real secrets of the game. If I decide to go for it at that point, *then* I'll go dark not to pickup any spoilers. I hope. Probably... :P

Not going dark until about a month before where story might get leaked. I want to know every gameplay mechanic. Right now.

Yeah, most people only go dark when the story is in danger of being leaked, which is a month or two before release in most cases.

However for me, I want even the small things like the game mechanics to be brand new. The less hype and expectations I have, the more I'll enjoy the game for what it is...not what the Dev's are telling me it's like. ; )

Now lets see if I can actually do it when the gameplay videos come out. haha.

I don't doubt that sometimes my attention will be diverted elsewhere ; still... Gotta know and speculate. Then speculate some more.

I can't. I have a bad feeling that this will be a disappointment to me, but desperately wish it not to be.
So i will stay posted until its out, and I am satisfied, or I see a gamebreaker.

So if they say something that ruins it for me, I'll go dark and forget about it, does that count?

I've never seen a Beth game that had enough information made available as to ruin the game. We saw a great deal of information of the first several FO3 quests....partial walkthroughs and such, and even that didn't do the quest justice. Same with the screenshots....they just aren't enough to ruin the OMG! moments in these games.

After I know more about where they are gonna go with the mechanics I will pay less attention to be surprised later this year.

After E3 I will take a couple months of vacation from the forums, or at least this section of the forums. Well, I'll try to.

How so? I like being surprised. I'm just as excited as most people, but I show it in my own way. And that doesn't involve turning into the human-sponge. :3

I voted for the second one, I wanna see how things are coming together, but I don't want them to talk about any quests, or any specifics at all, really.

EDIT: Other then game-play mechanics, obviously, I meant I didn't want any specifics on any story related things in the game-play video.

It sounds like we both discovered Morrowind in a similar manner. I had about 20 bucks handy too haha. I'd never played anything quite like it.

I'm ashamed of how I discovered Morrowind. I borrowed the game from a friend not a very good friend but still a friend, and I moved two days later, but knew I was moving so you could say I stole it. But in those years since, the game has spawened a lifelong passion and one of the biggest elder scrolls fans (me).

glad i got that off my chest.
