Going from PC to X360...

Post » Sat Apr 09, 2011 1:00 am

I just got an Xbox 360 and am enjoying playing through Fallout 3 GOTY again. Basics like walking, control of the Pipboy etc.
are not really a problem, but when facing 2 raiders and not using VATS, I'm half-dead trying to shoot them. Will I learn to aim
with the controller, do I just incredibly svck at it and/or will I get any better at if I keep practicing? The last control pad I used
was the one for the Sega Mega Drive...

It takes some getting used to, but you will definitely get better at it. I mean, i did

It's a frustrating learning curve at times, but keep at it!

I know how you feel. We just got an xbox and the controllers drive me nuts. Life long pc gamer here so the I am more used to using keys and a mouse to do things. I am considering spending the $25 for the pc version so that I feel more at home. That said, I have improved a lot over the past couple days in using the controller.

That's not very helpful....

Anyways,I would imagine it takes some getting used to. I always thought aiming on PC was too easy, since you only have to move the mouse and point at something to shoot.

I have found VATS to only be useful for when I screwed up sniping off the enemy and now it's in my face, and because of that I'm panicked and can't fire a straight shot.

I know, I'm pathetic, haha.

Sounds familiar. Those xbox 360 controllers are difficult to use at first, but it gets better. VATS is a life saver in full on panic mode.

I find adjusting the sensitiity of the controller helps. First, you want less sensitivity, then as you get used to the joysticks, add more sensitivity so you can aim faster. It can take a couple of days to get the hang of it.

i like machine gun type weapons. spray and pray that i hit something. use up a lot of ammo doing that. but the nasties die and that is what counts.

Off-Topic but funny, I was playing COD-Black-Ops online the other night. I guess i'm so used to Fallout, I kept getting killed because I was trying to Use VATS. :sadvaultboy:
