Going to get Morrowind in anticipation.

Ok, I'm going to a larger town tomorrow, as there are no gaming stores where I live. I want to get Morrowind GOTY so I can just have it all, but Best Buy only lists the regular version. I'd figure that the GOTY would be more common. Does anyone know if it's just a mislist? I'd like to get it for 20 dollars if I can, and I heard the Steam version doesn't work well with mods.

If I can't use Steam or get it from Best Buy, I will end up having to order it for 10 dollars more and have to wait longer. I sure hope this isn't the case.

On a side note, I also noticed that GameStop lists the regular version for download for 20 dollars, but not the GOTY. This furthers my suspicions. I can't wait for Skyrim, and I'm trying to soak in the ES before it comes out. Thanks in advance.

Meh, I figured as much. I was hoping for the opinion of someone who had ordered the game from Best Buy or went there and saw the GOTY for themselves. But if this is how it must be, so be it.

I purchased an extra Morrowind Goty edition for $20 at a nearby Best Buy about 4 months back near where I live. Every Best Buy around here usually has at least one copy in the store unless it was sold recently and they just didn't restock it yet. I don't know why they wouldn't have it listed on there website...it has to be a mislist.

Ebay/Amazon is your best bet for an online purchase unless you email Best Buy and inquire about the goofy listing, otherwise just order it at a Best Buy store if they don't have it in stock. I've had horrible experiences with Best Buy's online service though, they'll cheat customers out of there special offer's provided with certain order's. I got cheated out of my free rhino mount for AoC by them when I ordered the Collector's Edition for it - worst game purchase I've probably ever made too. If Best Buy gets sued en masse for false advertising some day it wouldn't surprise me.

Just buy it via steam, you'll have it instantly with all the DLCs. Also mods work perfect on my steam version.

Steam - you just missed a chance to get for free included it in the massive QuakeCon Pack if you pre-order Skyrim and Rage.

It's still a decent price. ($20 for GOTY version) If you have a lot of patience, you can wait around and every once in a while it goes on sale for $9.99 or so. Probably at Steam's end of the year sale they will bring back the QuakeCon pack, which included Oblivion GOTY, Morrowind GOTY, FO3 GOTY, New Vegas, Old World Blues, Dead Money, Honest Hearts, Brink, plus about 20 different DOOM and Quake games for $39.99 total..

I just started playing Morrowind a few weeks ago. The controls take a while to get used to but I'm really enjoying it. There are a lot more factions and they are not all isolated from each other like in Oblivion.

I bought a GOTY version from the local Best Buy about 2 months ago.

Before that, I was playing a version I downloaded from Steam, and mods worked fine on it. I did have to re-date the Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon bsa files before mods would work though. It was some time ago, maybe they've fixed it by now, but here are the dates you need:

Morrowind to 5/1/2002
Tribunal to 11/6/2002
Bloodmoon to 6/3/2003

The only problem I ran into with the Steam version was with the construction set. First off, it didn't come with it, and it was hard to find. Second, Steam wouldn't allow me to access the Bloodmoon or Tribunal assets in the CS. I have no idea why. I can make a mod with the CS, but I'm limited to the vanilla Morrowind assets. So if you intend to make mods, the Steam version is less than optimal.
