I have her as my Housecarl. I'm just thinking when/if I survive

to buy my home in Solitude would she return there if I ever needed her

to "part ways"??

If I ever get Skyrim for PC, getting a mod so that I can have as many followers as I like will be near the top of my list of mods to get.

Breezehome is the one home you can have without having to worry about a housecarl. Just don't let Lydia talk to you in Dragonsreach; run past/around her. Even if you own Breezehome, she won't go there until she talks to you.

And yes, if you don't own Breezehome, she stays at Dragonsreach.

By the way, while we're on the topic of obtrusive housecarls, how come whenever I rent a room in an inn, the innkeeper watches me in my sleep for the whole night?
