Going prone in Crysis 3

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 11:03 pm

Should we be able to go prone again like in Crysis 1? but in Crysis 3? What do you guys think? Place your votes.

In case you don't know what going prone is, it's when your character lies flat on their belly and can crawl.

Definitely yes. You can't go prone in the CryEngine 3.4.0 SDK, so I have my doubts, but they should DEFINITELY bring back prone.

Naaaah, I never see people when they're laying on the ground. I usually ran over them and die. And as a combo with stealth peps will be even harder to see (at least for me). They can just lay down in a corner or so and camp.

Well then have Prone at the very least for the campaign... It does a whole lot for immersion.

Why not? Crysis gameplay is about the all-empowering movement of the Nanosuit, that you can't do something as simple as lie down is preposterous. Not to mention all this talk of giving the player options for approaching situations - how seriously can Crytek expect this line to be taken if they won't allow for such a classic feature of stealth approach?

Definitely should have it. People don't use it to camp as much you'd think. And we could have both prone and slide so why not crytek

Only if there are proper sized maps. There is absolutely no point in having prone on Crysis 2-sized maps, other than to annoy people.

Well from a sniper's point of view prone would help a lot, even if it would get a little annoying having cloaked proned snipers. Plus prone adds new tactics to the gameplay such as dropshots & dolphin diving. Other than the occasional noob who cloaks + prones, I don't see why not, but in the world of crysis that really shouldn't be too much of a problem

If stealth went back to the more balanced version found in Crysis wars, then prone would be much more useful. In wars, you couldn't just mosey about in stealth, hide for a bit to recharge and then carry on; your stealth lasted a few seconds if you were moving, and the maps were often open enough (and teams big enough) that there really wasn't anywhere you could safely hide. This is where prone came in.

Stealth is a crutch for bad gamers. Imo Crytek should get the balls to depart from the poor lore they've created with the C2 nanosuit, and being stealth back to being a slight tactical advantage, rather than something many people spend the majority of their game time in.

IMHO they definitely should bring back prone.

Not the instant prone, however.
An actual animation of lowering down (you don't drop dead on the ground, do you.) oughta do.

This game did it right:

If the games more like C1 then Yes, it works great, If its mostly like C2 then like C2 I won't be playing it online so would not mind.

I've voted yes in hope the game will involve alot of C1 style mechanics.

lol at people voting no. Who cares about MP, Crysis has always been about SP and prone should be in SP.

The people voting no, if they were logically consistent, would also want the removal of stealth. Stealth is far more effective at hiding people, and enables their dreaded 'campers' to a far greater extent.

all that would have to be done to make it entirely viable and fair would be to improve the original Crysis spotting mechanic. It was ruined in Crysis 2 because the small maps made it dangerous to enter visor mode, but with a larger battlefield, spotting would become a viable way to alert your team of both people in stealth and in prone.
