Going to the bathroom in Skyrim

Post » Tue Oct 26, 2010 2:52 am

I was thinking about how the elder scrolls series are the most immersive games out there. It would be such a good step for immersion if you were able to go to the bathroom! I mean you do it in real life, why shouldnt you be able to in the game? These games are about taking immersion to the next level - please Bethesda, its not too late to add it in if you havent already!

That would be awesome! But, it would be kinda unfair for female characters you know. And what would happen if you "wet yourself"? Would you get skill drops?

Only if it's truly immersive: Not optional, and on a timer- wait too long, you soil yourself and get a laundry-list (pun fully intended) of negative effects and perks until you clean yourself up.

This also works with the "adding jobs" idea, as we would need laundries to clean our soiled armor and clothing.

This :whistling:

And the timer should go faster if you drink water or eat food.

That's what I'm talking about! Why do games always ignore the important things that make it more realistic?

Lol no - would I have to stock up on loo roll when my character went out exploring or could you use leaves?

And more importantly, would there be a minigame involved? Actually, no, just imagine the perverted mods...

They don't even have bathrooms in Tamriel so far as one can see

At least in Fallout there were plenty of bathrooms, even though you couldn't use them. Or at least for not relieving yourself - just for quaffing down irradiated water....

Okay, I love the idea of a hardcoe mode, like having to eat, drink, and sleep. But this is bordering on ridiculousness, and wierdness.

Because pointless micromanagement is stupid and never fun.

Real life in game format is NOT FUN!

I'm sure if they somehow found a way where you would never have to go to the bathroom again, most people would jump on it without a second thought. I know I would. More time gaming.

You could use leaves, sure- but your Alchemy skill would come into use since leaves are ingredients, and with low enough Alchemy you could end up unknowingly using something like Poison Ivy/Oak/Sumac, see- then it's off on an emergency, ah- run? hobble? waddle? to the nearest healer...

 Yeah, that's too far even for me...

no, just no. I really don't want to watch my character drop a duce, i really don't want that, while i travel the wilderness i don't want to hunt for leaves, or carry paper, or ruin my books or scrolls i carry. I would rather them add kitchens than bathrooms anyway

It's like saying "I want real time sleeping!!!"... It's just, NO.

And [censored]?... I have a South Park reference in mind (the voting and PETA, episode...)

I don't want to see your character farting in npc's faces either, Fable III. >_>

NPCs don't go to the bathroom so why should I.

The bathroom is just one of those "implied" game mechanics. There's sewers, so people do excrete waste, they just do it when you aren't looking ;)

Ooh! Potential stealth realism: Any noise you make can get you detected, see- so add in cooking, but be careful about what you eat before going on a robbery or assassination mission! :D

EDIT: Come to think...it really wouldn't even take any sound for this to get you caught.

Am I the only one who starts to develop an aversion towards the word "immersion?" Some people are better off playing The Sims instead of TES methinks....
