Going to try Morrowind

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:17 am

I bought Morrowind several months ago from a Flea Market (and before you ask, yes I know I was taking a risk, but luckily the game isn't messed up :P ). Anyways I started it a couple of times and tried to force myself to play it, but I never got very far in it. I guess because I was spoiled by Oblivion's graphics and such.

However now that Oblivion is broken (damn you scratches! :banghead: ), I've decided to try to play Morrowind all the way through this time. I really do want to play it and get into the plot of the game, because from what I read it has things that Oblivion was missing. I hope I can look past the dated graphics and appreciate the game, because I'm sure it's very good.

Well, wish me luck on Morrowind. :D

Sadly I have it for Xbox, and I didn't say they were crappy, I used the word "dated" :P

Yea the PC version is really a step up. Morrowind is a game that is not immediately fun, you just need to stick with it for a week or so and you'll be hooked. The Xbox version is good to start on and I recommend trying it out there first, then, if you really get into, move onto PC where your options are far greater.

All it took for me to get into Morrowind was switching from the touchpad on my laptop to a USB mouse. It made a world of difference, really.

In fact, your fanboish rant is not really correct.

Sure, you can mod the bejesus out of Morrowind on PC (as I did for many, many years) but still considerable number of PC users (AFAIK, mind you) get CTDs and occasional crashes.

Now, after two weeks of playing the Xbox 360's emulation of original Xbox Morrowind never crashed on me.

So those who prefer hassle-free and rock-solid gameplay choose console while the adventurous ones go with PC.

Myself being part of both persuasions actually makes me enjoy double portion of Morrowind goodness.

Yay for me! :-)

This is actually incorrect.
I used to have many more freezes/crashes with my Xbox version than currently on my PC.

PC users have access to the Patch Project which fixes literally thousands of glitches/bugs, and the Code Patch which makes the game much more stable and solid. These are facts and have nothing to do with preference or opinion. The patches fix the game!
PC users can also repair and clean their Save files when they get huge, Xbox users run the risk of more crashing/slowdown when they get high level.
There's two amazing reason for PC, without even mentioning mods.

The matter of crashes on PC has to do with the computer itself, not the way the game was made differently than the Xbox version.
