Gold and Weapons Query

Post » Thu Jun 23, 2011 11:41 am

Ok this may have been brought up many times before and i do apologise if it has, but I would like to know why is you can find Weapons, Armour, rings etc and they are worth a fortune, but you have no were to sell them, the most I have ever found is 1 person in Anvil(peaemakers) and 1 person in Shivering Isle(can't remember the name) and they have a gold amount of 1200, is there a reason for this? Like when I get my mercintile skill up and invest in stores does there amount of gold go up?

Any help is always appreciated

That is, in my opinion, a game flaw. Partially due to the unrealistic economy and also due to level scaling.

Mods like "Living Economy" fix this, at least to some extent. That is include in the OOO overhaul mod.

But with level scaling, there are unrealistically large numbers of expensive enchanted items all over the place at mid to high levels. You can't help but trip over some ring or armor that isn't worth at least 4000 or over 10,000 gold. And yet merchants have tiny amounts of gold in comparison. It just doesn't make sense.

The "prices" are more of an indication of the strength of the enchantments, which account for almost all of the number. The merchants have the gold to handle the base items that they sell (or buy back) but not the extra-value ones you find in the dungeons.

Since you equip yourself at higher levels exclusively from loot, and the only other things to buy are horses and houses, the money part of the game is no longer relevant after some point. I.e. if you don't need to worry about having enough gold, you're past it. It's part of the early game, so that you can sell a dozen fur items to buy a chainmail one, but as soon as you do that, you'll find the same piece on a boss bandit with an enchantment!
