If worst case, just mod it in. :wink_smile:

Gold: Represents various parts of the beast which are worth money but don't have a seperate loot entry.
Lockpicks: Bone or bit of shell that can be used as a lockpick. Fits the concept of "Breaking" picks much better than metal picks.
Ring, knife, necklace: Found in the vicinity. Bit of a stretch, but I can imagine a wolf dragging the arm of an enemy back to the den to give to the cubs, or the like.

It's not breakng immersion to see that happen.

A wolf with a coin in it? It ate a coin that was lying around.

A slaughterfish with a bone? It bit a finger off of some poor chap. Yes, I know the bone looks (and is) a thigh bone when you loot and drop it, but it still stands.

I do not see the issue here. Animals eat weird things. It happens all the time in real life.

I never saw that as immersion breaking either. Certainly nothing for me to beg for.

The amount on smaller animals is small. And explained by what they eat. It doesn't happen alot. An occasional gold coin or silver spoon for example.

Lockpicks can mean just something you use to pick a lock, like a bone shard or piece of metal.

Larger animals and monsters can have more stuff. But case they eat bigger things, like humans. And also creatures like Orges or Minotaurs seem to have some intelligence, so they may want to collect some nice looking items like rings. In real life I think it's been well documented that some animals, like birds, are also attracted to shiny things.

For example the Giant Slaughterfish in Oblivion has lots of stuff consistent with things he might have eaten - like oars.

I guess we′ll just have to confiscate their stolen goods. :rolleyes:

Is that why the Legion Foresters are always yelling at the wildlife to "pay the fine"? :laugh:

what, it's not like all the wolves you killed had gold
like 1 in 100 wolves had 1 gold, it's very likely he ate it

Its silly to think you split open the belly of everything you kill...

I don't mind a Cliff Racer's carcass having a nice sword if I can use it--I suspend disbelief for advantage. :wink_smile:

Yeah because a hunter never field dresses an animal in the woods. Oh wait a minute...

Some things like minotaurs make less sense, but they have closer to humanoid intelligence so chances are they might have something that has sentimental value to them or could just be pretty.

Isn't that essentially what you do if you kill a wolf and then go loot it? Or do you just rummage through its fur to see if it has gold stuck somewhere? Or do you grab it by the ear and yank the fur off in one fell swoop?

If you don't cut it open, how else would you grab the fur or the meat? If you don't want to 'cut it open', don't loot it.

Dude! Quit making assumptions about how I roleplay! My character always checks the stomach contents for not only coinage, but for various items to use in alchemy. :read:
or
Dude! I play an impoverished citizen or a subsistance living, and knowing that animals eat shinies, of course I slice up the stomaches!
[/uberroleplayer]

[mode=choicefundamentalist]
Hey, everyone should be free to have the choice of whether or not they want to open the stomache or loot the carcasses. By restricting what loot is on the animal, it takes choice away from the player, which is of course BAD : :stare: [/choicefundamentalist]

[mode=hardcoeplayer]
Dude! I empty out the stomache contents so I can make Haggas! Not to mention tripe :liplick: : [/hardcoeplayer]

[mode=reality]
When I cut open an animal, I'm always curious to see what it's eaten :nod: [/reality]

Uhm... When has this not been how Bethesda does this? Occasionally a wolf, slaughterfish or something would have like one gold piece. And that IS explained as they just ate it.

I agree with you, but any gold has always seemed a little weird:

Hmm... I wonder if this wolf has any gold!

I doubt a rat could eat money... As for herbivorus animals...

Sharks are more likely to eat money... Animals just don't eat the uneatable... Beside, money will kill them... Eating things that can't be digested, like metal, is dangerous.

You must add a Zelda like chest opening animation, with sound.

You don't think a rat the size of a terrier could eat a little piece of metal? :mellow:

Hmm. I may have found the odd gold coin, but that's all. Not so unrealistic I would care.

Dude... The Elder Scrolls (at least Morrowind and Oblivion) games haven't done this before. In fact, enemies tend to actually drop what they have (e.g. Bandit attacks with a dagger, that dagger actually exists and is lootable). Oblivion wasn't as consistent with this, but still. Don't worry about it.

OB did not really have that kind of problem (if you consider it a problem, I don't, since it would make since that if a bear bites a legion's head off you would find an undigested legion helm in the bear) the only creature that I recall having gold on it (and very little at that) was wolfs.

I never found it odd that animals/beasts have gold on their corpse.

If that animal is a scavenger or predator, it makes sense that they could have money on them. I never believe it's in a coin purse or pocket, but more of the contents of their guts. They eat a wealthy man traveling between cities, and they ingested a few coins in the process. Or maybe it's an animal that is instinctively drawn to shiny objects, and pilfered the item.

Yeah, no.
When was the last time you saw any animal carrying something like that in real life? Never, because that's outrageous, and not realistic at all. I 100% support the OP, make animals carry things animals carry, which, unless you are a Kangaroo, is pretty much nothing. Make tusk/fur/pelts etc lootable only off animals.

I have cats, and this one cat likes to get into stuff, but I easily find stuff that "An Animal wouldn't carry" digested in the litter box, things like lip-balm, and pennies. So yeah if one out of 3 small cats can eat a coin, especially when its not packaged in their food then what would happen to someone's heavy wallet if they were to be eaten?

I have been playing oblivion since launch and am nearing my 5th level capped character, and I have never had a boar drop something like an iron mace or a ring, I play on the 360 and i dont know if that would have something to do with it but i have never seen this.

Animals eat dumb stuff...and people who carry gold. I don't mind finding a coin or two. However...I don't like killing a wolf and finding a 6 foot claymore. If I find armor from a wolf he better of been wearing it.
