Gonna do my first DiD....need helptips!

Post » Sun Sep 14, 2014 7:35 pm

Ok so I'm about to do my first DiD, and I'd like some tips on what and what not to do. I've been playing this game for over a year and I have a bad habit of dying from stupid mistakes or not being careful. I know that's one thing...to be super careful, but is there anything else I need to know?

Thanks!

EDIT: forgot to mention that I'll be playing on Legendary :)

Here's what I can think of:

  1. Learn your playstyle and learn it well.
  2. Start small and observe how the opposition acts and reacts.
  3. Always scout ahead -don't walk into an area/room blindly.
  4. On legendary difficulty, if you believe you can't prevail, you propably can't. Let it go and come back later.
  5. Don't get killed.

don't die.

have a box of kleenex handy in case you do. Restarting the game can get lead to a bloody *headdesk* cranial migraine.

If you somehow miraculously survive Bleak Falls Barrow and/or live beyond level 15+ or so, then be sure to bring along a box of kleenex. The tears of regret will only multiply as your char increases in level.

And whatever you do, stay the hell away from Solestheim or anything DB related (even if the game triggers that DLC). Completely avoid exploring it below level 20. Your char will DIE. Horribly. Only go to this unholy place if you're hell bent on restarting the game from scratch.

Try to avoid off trail scrambling in the mountains. Surviving throngs of draugur to be killed by a short fall svcks.

If this is your first "dead-is-dead," my advice is to not play on Legendary.

Don't get caught off guard by Sabercats, shouted off cliffs, and be absolutely paranoid in Falmer Dungeons.

Also probably don't want to use mods like SKYRE or Locational Damage and faster arrows if you're on PC.

Don't be afraid to play with the difficulty meter as needed, use followers to your advantage where possible....

I agree with this. DiD is a new challenge for you. If you want to succeed, don't load the deck against yourself.

What Pseron Wyrd said (I can't get the Quote button to work). If you're used to playing on Legendary, try Expert or Master for DiD.

Failing that, well, no advice is possible. What will happen will happen.
