Good enough?

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 11:36 pm

Ok, so i run a Acer Aspire 5536 and i was wondering if its good enough for oblivion to be ran on. I'm not a HUGE graphics junky but i would like mid-high graphics considering thats the reason i want to leave morrowind for oblivion. I would think it is but here are my specs for you wonderful computer lovers:

3GB Memory
ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card (up to 1408 MB hyper memory)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor QL 64 (2.1 GHz)
320 HDD

I think it is good enough to paly it because at the most it meet both the recommendations and minimum requirements but i think my processor wont be good enough....I hate lag, but i also love mid-high level graphics. Your opinion?

P.S. Is this the right place to post this? if not im sorry haha :flamethrower:

I'm no hardware expert, but it looks good to me.

As for whether this is the right forum, another possibility could be the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/forum/23-oblivion-hardware-and-software-issues/ forum.

My Processor is an Athalon 64 bit single core, 2.0 ghz, and it runs Oblivion fine at Ultra. It looks like you outstrip my rig at all points tbh, so I think you should do fine. I'd look into a background process killer (or do it manually if you know how) to end uneccesary proccess while playing. (USER processes only iirc)

Also, be wary of overclocking yo ur processor. Keep an eye on the processor and system temps when you stress it, and make sure your heat sinks and cooling fans are up to the challenge. A CPU/GPU Meltdown is not as fun as it sounds.

Yea im always aware of my computers tempt in ALL aspects. If i feel its going to over heat i shut it down for 20mins and play for a couple more hours. If i get cocky ill set fan next to it to blow out the heat. The main heat is coming from my back fan and it blows out alot. Also Thanks i feel comfortable that i will run i have the game but of course my mom just HAD to save it for christmas. Also the Background process killer i have no idea what that is haha. Can you explain it? :liplick:

It's a programm that some gamers use to end background processes and free up memory your game could be using. You'd have to reboot when you are done gaming to restore the processes. If your not having any memory issues, I wouldn't bother though. Personally, I havent had use for one, but they are out there and useful if you need them. Just be careful with it if you do use it.

I wouldn't have thought it'd be able to run it at recommended settings.
It may well prove me wrong though, i've never tested it.

Oblivion is surprisingly easy on the requirement. Most people who can play it find that they struggle with Fallout 3.

i ran a requirement for fallout 3 and i exceed all minimum requirements, but for some reason on the recommended it says my video card does not meet the requirement but it does. If it an error idk because here what it is and what they want:
Video RAM they want is 512 MB. i have 1.4 GB
3D Yes. Yes, i have 3D.
Hardware T&L Yes. Yes i have Hardware T&L.
Pixel Shader version 3.0. I have pixel shader version 4.0 .
Vertex Shader version 3.0. I have vertex shader version 4.0.

But, it says my graphic card doesn't meet the requirements. The thing left that it says i have is You Have: ATI display adapter (0x9612) which it doesn't have a set requirement for that. But, other than the graphics card the PC meets all minimum and recommended requirements. :brokencomputer:

oh nvm i think i know why. It has a set series recommended that it is wanting it to be. I have ATI Radeon HD 3200, but they want ATI 3800+ series. I think that might be the reason it says that its not meeting requirements. But for oblivion my graphics card is fine totally. I guess ill have to wait and see :sadvaultboy: . Thanks for the post and feedback!

I have a youtube video of a game playing vanilla oblivion with the EXACT same computer as mines, but he has 4GB of RAM i only have 3GB. Will change my playability drastically?

heres the guy and he also has a series of videos playing games like Crysis, oblivion, fallout 3, and many others. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPsMv4_TVEw
