Good Fallout Style Movies (Post Apocalypse)

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:24 am

Hey guys I want to watch some good post apocalypse films (doesn't have to look like fallout as long as it's after a apocalypse) and so far I only know of three. As you can see I would like to know more so if you know other good ones write them down and I'll put them in the poll.

Thanks! :tops:

I never found The Road to be that Fallout-ish. To me, Road Warrior is THE Fallout movie. Raiders, leather armor, dog companions, deserts, sawed off shotguns, scoped .44 magnums, scavenging.....

The Road...

How about comic books...? I just went through a big order of post-apoc comics...

Tank Girl for hilarity
Just a Pilgrim for general badass-ed-ness
Wasteland, the best of the bunch I've found so far, very fallout-y, including mutants, tyrants, slavers, etc.

Damnation Alley... not sure when it came out, but its definately post-apocolypse. Its got radscorpions, rad roaches(not exactly... but close enough) a trip to Vegas... I think even cannibals

I liked Waterworld.

Judge Dredd is far better as a comic series, though.

Maybe not a Fallout style film but definitely post WW 3 apocalypse - Equilibrium. Interesting view of how the human race could have adjusted, even if there's no wasteland. Wonder how roleplaying a Grammaton cleric would work in Fallout 3

Its already up there but A boy and his dog felt the most like FO in game spirit to me personally.

The newer Teenage caveman a very dire film, with awfull special effects, but has plenty of six, drugs and bloodshed in post apocolyptia....
Alot like how I roleplayed FO2 to be honest.

Has anybody ever seen the movie Knights? 1993, Kris Kristofferson and Kathy Long. Kickboxer chick goes up against the cyborgs that kidnapped her brother. That movie was so trashy it was good again.

And I will also suggest Resident Evil 4. just cos Milla Jovovich is in it. God I love her. *sigh*

28 Days Later had me scared for weeks! (I'm not into horror, just survival horror games. Go figure...)

And most definitely Tank Girl!!

Beach party at the threshold of hell its got alot of good stuff in it. An android from the New Arizona Republic
and immortal satanic collage students are a few highlights over all its quite good, lots of messed up humor.

I've read The Road, but I haven't seen the film yet. I definitely recommend reading it if you love to be sad.

I voted for Damnation Alley btw, a bit cheesy but it wasnt too bad either.

"The Day After (1983)" is one of my favorites: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085404/

It takes place more in the middle of the apocalypse rather than post. This movie shows the build up plus the aftermath of nuclear warfare more accurate concerning this era imo ~ the cold war was highly present during the eighties, Europe divided and a lot of political crap going on ~ I can remember the demonstrations against cruise missiles in our country. As a matter of fact it's still here only the players and the name of the game have changed.

Chidren of men. is another great one imo.

Not a film but a british TV show called The Mitchel and Web Look has a running sketch about the "Event" set around a cheesy gameshow studio post appocolyptia that came out a bit after FO3's release.
Which I love watching when im playing FO, check youtube or elsewhere to catch a view maybe?

"Dr Strangelove" isn't really post-apocalyptic but I think it definitely fits with the Fallout universe. It shows the kind of bizarre thinking that would allow an apocalypse to occur in the first place. Characters write off the deaths of millions of people as "acceptable losses" and make ever more frantic and unrealistic plans to "ride out" the imminent nuclear holocaust. If you want to know how the Enclave thinks or what they were thinking when the Great War started, you could do worse than Dr Strangelove.
