I have a GTX 660ti and ran settings maxed out. Played both PvE and PvP with no problems at all.
Although if your budget allows always best to go higher to future proof your self a little.
My eyes need 60 fps to have a butter sliding down a hot pan experience.
[EDIT] Constant 60 fps and vsync on is the only way to 100% avoid screen chop effect on LCD. (I mean not the hicups from vram loading)
haha I see, well in that case yeah a gtx 660 wont cut it ^^
My problem with most benchmark tools I have seen is they don't actually use all your hardwares options, I had to send my new GTX 780 back to the shop twice because after 2 months none of my games worked, I could load/launch them a lot of the time to the main menu and see the games INTRO if it had one, but playing or trying to load a game would crash.
Games like skyrim crisis 3 AC4 tomb raider ect which they all played fine on before.
After I got my card back the first time, I sent the whole tower since I bought it all from the same place. I start playing and no change I called them back and they spent 30 mins going over stuff but I hadn't done anything but plug it in. they took it back again and found NP at all after 20 mins or so my friend asked how they tested the card and they said thru the benchmark programes, when they installed a game they had and tried to play it then they got the same problem I had, turns out that the benchmark programes don't actually fire up or run activation controlled aps on your hardware.
Now after they build a new rig and run it in they test it with an actuall game play session not just the benchmarks.
LOL forgot my point, my old GTX 660 TI was what I used for all those games and I didn't have to change one setting from what they used on the 780 and back infact my new 780 still gives me green screen something I never saw in 15 months with the 660Ti, my I-5 4765k helps tho and 16g ram.
Go for AMD R9 290X TOP CUII ASUS quite powerful graphics card and at a reasonable price
Can't wait for my GTX 760 to arrive. Sadly the store i ordered it from sent it to the wrong address and now i have to wait even longer T____T
Luckily for me my CPU has an OK GPU so i could at least install everything and make it battle-ready
You may want to pick up a new power supply as well, depending on the rating of the 12v rail. The video card will have spec's for the 12v requirement, and from there we can determine if you have enough juice to power it. We'd also need need to know the model of power supply you have.
I have the 270x in my main gaming box, but I do have a 260x in my HTPC. The 260 is said to be roughly equivalent to the 7750 series. While it would definately play the game, I don't think it would be a big enough upgrade for the money. I think you go with a mimum of nVidia 660ti or AMD R9-270x
Please let us know what you do and how it worked out for you
That's what I run on my Mac Pro. Unfortunately, ESO doesn't support dual-processor systems, so while the game runs smoothly when it does run, it crashes often.
I am on dual 580s and it ran very well for me. But it's also i7 six-core (3930K), so that may be part of it.
Thanks Vertigo, that was something I was worried about.
I have an Antec Earthwatts 500W (green) with two 12V rails at 22A each. After reading everyone's comments I think I'm going to get the gtx760. I hope that will be enough to give me a big boost in fps and reduce the choppiness. The gtx770 looks sweet but its another $100....
I also have a antec high-current gamer 620Watt PSU with a 48A 12V rail, but for some reason it doesn't work in my main rig (computer just keeps restarting). Works fine in my older machine though.
The nvidia 560ti is the recommended so anything above that.
Hey, you guys / gals overclock your cards when running ESO? Just wondering ;I use... Precision X
O.o
Or you know, get two 770's for the same price and improved performance
I got the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 OC Edition 2GB, should give me quite a boost from the hd6850 and last for a few years.
EDIT: Thanks for your help everyone!
I never overclock my graphics card. The GTX 780M can handle it fine on its own.
Tested the game on the 290, 280X and 270X with all performing great at 1080. 260X should do very good as well, might have to come down a little on detail but not much.
Yep, 770's good deal IMO. If you are playing on a single monitor it is just as good as any card above it, but at a fraction of the cost.
I just dual titan'd it.. for no good reason other than I could really
I'm running an EVGA 780ti SC edition, which is probably WAY overkill for this game. But yeah, it was mainly "because I can". I'm pretty sure my Radeon HD7950 that I was using before would be every bit as good in this game (it's not extremely GPU intensive in the way that say Crysis 3 is).
im running 2x Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 780's and they're silky smooth on ultra getting around 100fps in game.
Do not buy anything lower than a GTX 760 at this time. It is a bit over powered for ESO but anything lower and you are kinda throwing your money away with how fast they come up with newer cards IMO.
760 GTX should run about $300. DO NOT BUY GIGABYTE OR SAPPHIRE they are trash components go for ASUS or EVGA.
I love how the op asked for a reasonably priced gpu and most of the posts are about how peoples multi thousand dollar setups run eso silky smooth.
