Uh... you mean a gun that lasts a long time, while still being effective throughout the game? 10mm Pistol. Best sidearm in the game, bar none.

Can only recruit 1 humanoid and 1 non-humanoid at a time, engine limitations, i hear.
The 10mm Pistol is a beast, and when you hook on all the mods (excludingthat ugly laser) load Handloaded 10mm JHP, it becomes the best sidearm in the game, hell it functions admirably without the mods or JHP.

also who says onlyhttp://tangentgirls.com/gallery/d/13667-1/ScreenShot9.jpg? *my character isn't in that shot

:P

* yay for PC version and mods! :P

on a more serious note however, Lucky and the cowboy repeater worked well for me early to midgame. Until you get a hunting rifle or service rifle. Also Ratslayer was a work horse for me too.

assault Carbine

The Assault Carbine is piss-poor for its tier and cost, not worth using over a 10mm SMG.

Absolutely. On my second character I killed (well, finished off) the Legate with a 10mm I picked up at the Nevada Highway Patrol, around level 2 or 3. Served me faithfully through the entire game.

I definitely like how its a decent gun now, does moderate damage. In fallout 3 its usefulness became questionable after a certain level.

The 10mm is the most useful gun from beginning to the end of the game. Its ammo is cheap and found everywhere. It can be repaired with plenty of spare 10mm guns laying around. Good rate of fire, great if you take AP perk, or simply have alot of points in agility. And even in later stages of the game, its still very useful in eliminating those annoying pesky animals and humans, so you don't need to waste your more expensive or rarer ammo on them.

I like the Gobi Rifle and the 10mm pistol with mods. I also carry Lucky and the .44 Magnum for whenever I need a bit more stopping power.

If you're referring to the Gangs All Here achievement, I hear there's a bug with it. Sometimes yoyu get it and sometimes you don't. If you open the console at all even if you don't execute a command, it interfers with achievement flags. Make sure you restart your game after every use of the console.

Of course everyone forgets about the almighty Mysterious Magnum!

Mysterious Magnum vs. 10 mm pistol:
MM:
- DAM/DPS: 42/12 (Hand Load + all perks DAM/DPS: 67/162)
- Awesome music
- Twice as durable as 10mm pistol
- Ammo/.44 Magnum revolvers (for repair) are less common then 10mm/10mm pistol
- Cannot be modded (so it cannot be silenced/scoped)
10mm:
- DAM/DPS: 23/65 (Hand Load + all perks DAM/DPS: 28/78)
- Can be silenced/scoped
- 10mm/10mm pistols are very common

Silenced 12.7 MM pistol > any 10mm. 40 Dam per shot, silenced, mugh high DPS, and common ammo. With Jury Rigging, it can be repaired with any pistol, including the 10mm.

Plus, with the 10mm pistol with JHP rounds, you have that x3 enemy DT multiplier.

I keep on me at all times-

Maria
THis Machine
Pulse gun
Gobi Sniper
Handful of grenades

If you don't like using uniques, grab a pistol, shotgun, sniper and a SMG (Cause all the assault weps in this game are crap) and get a bunch of mods for them

Fully-modded hunting rifle. I could use that gun through the entire game, especially with hand loader perk and the special .308 ammos you can make.

My weapon progression looked something like this...

Lvl 1-10
10mm Pistol w/ upgrades
Hunting Rifle w/ upgrades
Sawed-off Shotgun

Lvl 10-20
12.7mm Pistol w/ upgrades
Sniper Rifle w/ Upgrades
Lever-Action Shotgun

Lvl 20-30
12.7mm pistol w/ upgrades
Anti-Material Rifle
Hunting Shotgun

Honestly, I liked my weapons the most when I was using the 10mm pistol, hunting rifle, and sawed-off shotgun. Most fun period of the game for me!

Thanks,
Nick

Agree, Trail Carbine >> the game>>> Mysterious Magnum.

Ratslayer is a keeper, Hunting Rifle is good (but I am sick of it because I use it through out FO3), Riot Shotgun is awesome, and of course the Abilene Kid BB gun.

10mm is something you should keep for casinos (unless you are going melee/unarmed).

The Gauss Rifle and the Q-35 Matter Modulator are my main two weapons. I kept the Riot Shotgun and Anti Material Rifle in my companion's stash as backups.

I use those two because they use the same ammo and are great for sneak attack headshots without VATs.

Trail carbine, hunting rifle (higher dam then sniper rifle, but lower rate of fire w/o mod), 10mm smg, Riot shotgun, Pew Pew if you're up to the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/The_Legend_of_the_Star , Q-35 Matter Modulator...

Anything that works well with your character, his perks, skills, and SPECIAL.
