Good Idea for a character?

I'm thinking that a Breton is the way to go in my next play through (I rarely use a mage, usually I go for stealthy or out right warriors) Do you have any suggestions for this build? Note that I have tried an Atronach, but I couldn't get into it at all.

Name: Colin
Class: Illusionist
Gender: Male
Race: Breton
Max Level: 47
Emcumbrance : 200
Health: 60
Magicka: 260
Fatigue: 150
Birth Sign: Apprentice
Specialization: Magic
Attributes: Personality, Intellegence
Major Skills: Mysticism, Conjuration, Alteration, Restoration, Illusion, Speechcraft, Marksman

My idea is that Colin is the son of one of the Scholars that work there, so he was pretty much raised in the University, thus he's now going to work there as an Illusionist. He often makes trips to other cities to do demonstrations of his new spells or something. The way he'll get his money is by either 'selling' his ideas, disposing of necromancers (usually by summoning, some illusion tactic, or shot with a bow), or possibly enchanting stuff/selling filled soul gems. I'm debating on if I should keep Speechcraft, since I can get charming spells. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I'm on Xbox, if that helps. Thanks in advance.

Love the name, and the back story - that he grew up in the University - but you say he's the son of "one" of the Scholars - so who was his other parent?!? Intriguing!

To the matter in hand, I'd trade Speechcraft for mercantile - if he's going to be selling it's a good skill to learn... (even if tedious to train...)

I had never even thought about his other parent. That could help with a person 'quest' of his. Maybe after bribing and extensively charming his father/mother, he/she will give him information, not much, but enough to send him on a long journey where he completely ignores his duties. I'm also trying to figure out a follower for him. Right now, I'm thinking that he'll get the Staff of Everscamps, I think it's called. Who can resist the cute little buggers? It'll be a long lonely road without any friends, I've already decided that he's not going to use a horse at all. Although, if I do that, my speed will be damaged, so I imagine I'll just enchant some stuff to get it back up.

I think you have a great idea about switching Speechcraft to Mercantile. It'll certainly help with his income. Thank you for your help :)
