A Good Level to Stop Levelling?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 11:24 pm

Hey there.

So, i'm level 9 at the moment on my mage. Its satisfying to be able to take out a group of weak Draugr with a single Yol, ande most enemies with two or three two-handed spells casts. Dragons take enough hits not to seem like weakling; but not enough to make the fights feel like a slog. And running into a Blood dragon meant I had to run away, which is fine. On the other hand I am pretty weak still, as many enemies can kill me with a single killcam-triggering hit.

I have no desire to hit any sort of level cap; I just want to be high enough that fights are fun while at the same time boss monsters arn't mixed in amongst the normal enemies in the levelled lists.

So, at what level would you recomend I just not use that ability to level up again?

81 tends to satisfy me.

Not really though, because I desire more perks. More... POWER!!!

I tend to do the hybrid classes though, and getting to level cap is really useful to make a jack of a trades character.

The only way I've seen people hit the level cap is when they grind abilities solely to hit said level cap or squeeze out all the perks, so you're not really in danger of doing any of that.

But yeah like buckom said, it's relative. My current character is maxed out in all Thief schools as well as Enchanting, Alteration, Illusion, Smithing, and One-Handed and she's probably hit the ceiling at level 64. Meanwhile on my orc that uses MAYBE five different skills tops, she's sitting at level 52 and that's fine with me. Also worth noting that being unable to level anymore and electing not to select level-ups are two super different things. I find the former a sign of progress and the latter to be shooting yourself in the palm and playing Skyrim that way. I'd just keep doing what you're doing and if you find things to be too easy, just turn up the difficulty. It really does make it more challenging when you're moving up from Adept. If you like just devouring everything in sight you can turn down the difficulty but honestly, even at higher levels you're gonna be able to cut through things as you are now if you keep it on Adept.

Leveling up makes your character stronger, and not leveling up when you can does not prevent your enemies from getting stronger. One extreme example is so-called permanent level 1 players. They do not do this to make the game easier, they do this to make the game harder.

Players who play normally will stop leveling up around level 40 or 50, when their core skills are maxed out. Some players with a smaller set of core skills will stop leveling earlier, maybe level 30. You are only level 9 and you will not be able to stop your enemies from getting stronger for a long while. In most cases, players get stronger faster than enemies.

Any level you fell comfortable at, really. On my mage I'm workin on I plan on getting to level 81, but I have been expecting to get one-shotted since level 30. As long as nothing touches you battles are fun, at least in m opinion.

You could be one of those players who never levels up at all. Just stay level 1 for the entire game. I'm not sure why... but hey, whatever floats your boat.

Not leveling up when you can does not prevent your enemies from getting stronger.

Actually it does. However every area has a minimum level. So there are offen times you have to face relatively high level enemies. And trolls still eat your face.

I have personally completed the game as a level one. "Complete" defined here as master of 4 guilds, win a war and killing Alduin.

It is less about difficulty and more about roleplaying a mortal man who just happen to be a little skilled, as opposed to the demi-god one eventually becomes at high levels.

40 if you want the game to remain a "challenge". 30 takes away the usefulness of disarm. A few mobs still level with you(or higher) around the 40s. 50 the game just stops scaling all together.

Hey there. (...)

Depends on how many skills you plan to use. If you limit your character to six skills (ignoring the others except speechcraft which naturally rises when trading or speaking with NPCs) you will cap at level 46: at this level you will access all the highest leveled loot and rewards. The world will be populated with high level monsters .

I'm now playing a character in which I will use only 5 skills. Barter reduced to a minimum (so that speechcraft stays below 30-40): Max predicted level is 41

I knew that there was a good chance I was wrong about that :) Thanks for clearing that up.
