Good mods...

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2009 2:09 pm

Can anyone give me some ideas for some medium mods? Like not the drastic overhall ones, just some that add a few new weapons/armors, maybe some places. I have been playing/modding Fallout 3 for like a year now, and have forgotten how beautiful Oblivion was (mainly since it isnt destroyed) and want to play it a bit again. But I have never played with mods, since when I first got it, I didnt even know they existed. So any mods that add stuff would be great. Not too much however, like OOO, I don't any of the overhaul/drastic change mods, as I like the basic game how it is. I just want new items/places and the like. I have the GOTY edition, so mods that use KOTN and SI are fine too. Thanks, I hope this is a specific enough a request.

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22401 is a good one that adds a new isle, npc's, and quests in very good quality.

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25023 does the same, but with a whole province in also very good quality.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9562 adds lots of new awesome spells, but you have to do a lot to get them.

That's pretty much all I can think of now, but there's a lot of other great ones that don't necessarily revamp the whole game.

You might want to try out the Unique Landscape mods. They overhaul small bits of landscapes to make it much more, wll, unique, and awesome.
Theres also the Lost Spires, http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12997, which is a wonderful quest mod with new locations and such. one of my all time fav's.

As does http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.List&game=4 (and also a Hall of Fame category).

That's the beauty of Oblivion modding. ^_^

Personally, I really enjoy http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16308 mod. Willie did an amazing job on it. I have a lot of fun just walking around in it. :D It's one of those really good house mods that isn't too boring or over the top.

Also, if that doesn't meet your housing needs, I'd take a look at http://www.oblivionsrealestate.com/. Everyone needs a home, after all!

Well, its practically new because yes the mods. But also I was referring to the fact I havent played it since getting fallout 3 like 13 months ago :D So I don't remember much, so I think I am actually going to play it for a week or so with NO mods, THEN add them. So its like a new game, then its like A NEW GAME! :D

Medium in terms of compatibility issues? Medium in terms of game balance impact? Medium in terms of download size?

Well, here's some really good mods, each of which is narrowly targeted to fix something that was broken in the original game. They all have minimal compatibility issues and small download sizes. Many of them require http://obse.silverlock.org/.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12859 (requires OBSE)

and my own http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23208 (requires OBSE)

Medium as in, not a complete overhaul of the entire game, but also doesn't just add like one little weapon or something. But I will look into a few of those, thanks! :D

Yes, playing through the vanilla Oblivion before modding is recommended. It helps you know what you want to add/change in the game.

A lot of the times, the teeny tiny mods that just do something very small and simple are the "best". Don't ignore something just because it isn't that big. My favorites, for example, are a few of AlienSlof's armor mods along with Adonnay's weapons. Both of these modders put a lot of care and detail into their mods despite them being simple. :)
