Good movies to watch in preparation for FO4 release...

Post » Mon Nov 09, 2015 9:12 am

I'm sitting here staring at my netflix/hulu/kodi wondering what would be a good movie to put on that may get me amped up for some wasteland adventuring, and I thought it would be a good thread to create :)

Any suggestions?

Book of eli probably relates to fallout pretty good minus the deathclaw and all that. It's a good movie.

Book of Eli (Basically a VATS using badass of the wasteland, Denzel Washington is a [censored] beast in that movie.)

Rambo 2008 (big guns, explosions)

Zombie movies (feral ghouls)

Marvel Iron Man movies (the customizable/upgradeable power armor, among Tony Stark falling under all the Intelligent and most the Charisma perks. Honestly Tony Stark is Fallout 4 lol.)

Terminator Salvation (Synths?)

Resident Evil Apocalypse (Feral Ghouls, wasteland, yea.)

The Road

Mad Max for the Raiders, id even watch Thunderdome, Master and Blaster. Practically all the inspiration from the Raiders in Fallout 4 came from the Mad Max series. The developers are more then obvious Mad Max fans (which is a very good thing), they even have the fight pit from Thunderdome in Fallout 4.

Stalker (1979) Russian film based on Roadside Picnic; the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games also are based on it.

No Blade of Grass (1970) British film.

Cast Away offers the sense of isolation and looking after one's self. There's also huge films with lots of beautiful, exploration shots such as Dances with Wolves. But honestly, your best bet that hasn't been said so far might be Planet of the Apes. Someone waking up to find they're actually years in the future and it's a post apocalyptic world of sorts.

And then there's the Mad Max type films that have been mentioned, such as Book of Eli and possibly I Am Legend, where someone is alone in a huge, post apocalyptic world.

Book of Eli. It basicly is almost a fallout plot right there, and the acting is great on that movie. I'm not religeous myself, and while the movie does have a slight biblical meaning too it, i realy loved it in the end.

I am Legend was good too, but i was sad in the end

Spoiler

Turbo Kid just came out not long ago, its pretty good. If you like the "Bloody mess" perk, then you'll love the movie.

WALL-E and Oblivion have a good post apocalyptic feeling, too. Empty and isolated. I like to imagine my character feeling that.
