crysis 2 has sold 3 million copies and I suspect most of it would be pc after the dx11 patch

after the 28nm gpus arrive in November, I expect to see ever more increase in sales.

Congratulations are in order. Keep up the good work Crytek

the stats till march were dominated by XBOX, is there a link to the stats after the DX11 patch?

Also their target was 7m XD. Only four million to go.

Acording to VGchartz, Crysis 2 on XBOX 360 has sold 926k copies, on PS3 676k and 258k PC (Retail

all this sums up to 1860k copies, meaning that Crysis 2 has sold 1140k (1.14 million) units by digital download +258k = 1.4 million PC sales

thats 40% more than XBOX 360 and almost as much as both consoles together

but remember that the Profit per game sold by Digital distribution is more than the double of a retail one, so in terms of profit, they have gotten 2.28 million (+258k) = 2.56 million worth of profit in console games, compared to the 1.6 million on consoles

So in conclusion, PC sales has given them 60% more profit than console games, EVEN though the game was a letdown when it was released and it's currently not available on one of the largest Digital Game Distributors (Steam)

maybe now crytek will develop their next Crysis game for PC then porting it to consoles

if everything goes right Crysis 3 could sell on it's first 4 months: 1.2 million on XBOX, 0.8 million on PS3 and 2 million on PC, and in the long run might even reach over 6 million overall

remember vga charts are not accurate. I recently learned that walmart would start sharing their game sales data to npd.

but i guess that pc could have sold 1 million sales, as console sales flatten after 10 weeks whereas pc sales keep on going.

I also doubt that Crytek are going to make another mappack. If they put together a special steam edition with all the dlc added, they might get more sales.

Also dont forget new 28nm cards are going to debut in november which will drive the sales even further.

And I do agree, pc gamers gave Crytek their biggest profit margin

they believed that Crysis 2 on PC would have sold 3M like crysis 1

and that on Consoles it would have sold 2M each because games like Cod sell like 10M

Their biggest mistakes

-EA (only EA releases a map DLC when there are only 500 people playing and the game is full of hackers)

-using gamespy (terrible MP platform, see what it did to Boderlands MP, not using steamworks because EA)

-no custom content, release it when the community is dead (to sell DLC to 50~ people)

-slow response to the community (this killed the player count due to hackers and free players)

Well, it was pretty much purely marketed for the consoles, they even demos the game on the Xbox360 and make the demo exclusive for a while. Crytek will learn from this.

Crytek could have been so much smarter, blinded by console money and CoD success. Crytek should have looked after their PC base more and they would have been rewarded.

Its too late..
Their fault.
They will see what will happen to the sales of Crysis 3 and I am sure there will be a Crysis 3.
Crytek's crisis!

Firstly Crysis 2 hasnt come close to selling 3 million copies, even across all platforms. Secondly Crysis 2 sales have pretty much flatlined by now. They would have sold a few after the DX11 patch but I doubt it was anything significant.

EDIT: Actually it seems Crysis 2 has sold 3 million now over all platforms. I still stand by the second part of my post though.

Whoever was quoting VGcharts they are pretty much never right and dont base their figures off anything but speculation. Very unreliable source.

Crytek need to do a free DX11 upgrade for Crysis 1 and Warhead, then we'll forgive them :D What about a add-on to Crysis 2 like Warhead was to Crysis 1, surely they cannot screw that up?

It doesn't matter who bought the game, what matters is who's playing the game. Many people who purchased it no longer play after the abyssmal release of it.

The game is very playable for me now, with the one exception, server poling lag caused by ion cannon or random.
